@unkx@icosahedron.website @WeirdWriter@caneandable.social actually, it's not a bad thing to poison the well by using your opponents weaponry, especially if tokens wasted are token owned by the companies forcing their dev to use LLMs.

@bjn@mstdn.social @ludicity@mastodon.sprawl.club agile and especially scrum was definitely a trend at some point that was overhyped and taken from the hands of non-software-engineers at companies, in order to push content on LinkedIn. So there is that.
Some of the agile methodology helped organising the work in team and AI kills team work by having a lot of people run in all directions and do 10 PRs a day with more than 3k loc just "because 100x devs". Cowboy devs are back in trends which mean that at some point, bringing back some team methodology may not be a bad idea till we make sure it's not again because some people found a new trend to sell to companies.

@sharlatan@mastodon.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org don't get me started on cars, even in France there are areas that are hardly accessible if you don't own a car.
Worst than AI, we're slowly moving to a world where owning a "smart" phone will be mandatory if citizen want to access to basic shits such as voting, banking, travelling or just, proving their rights as citizen.

@jrbe@scholar.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org I know a bunch of people arguably offloading their whole thought process to chatGPT; or using it constantly to reply to emails at work (so basically their chatGPT argue with other chatGPTs) so while I would agree some people are forced to use it at work I know from first-hand experience people who just "chatGPT it" instead of just "googling it".
And even with AI, I'm sorry but this is more complicated than that, outside of our little mastodon echo chamber, there are a lot of people who are using AI because it accelerates the "fake it till you make it" attitude that is reinforced by social media platforms such as X… even in scenes that used to value craft.

@gunstick@mastodon.opencloud.lu @bagder@mastodon.social people who tell you they can write code don't realise it's because they regurgitate bits of code from training models – stolen data btw – and that it's just the same way as LLM chats, probabilities of what's going to be the next possible token.
Basically, they give you the same as if you were copy pasting code from other codebase except that when you do that there's a chance you understand it yourself and start learning.

@faithisleaping@anarres.family
@faithisleaping@anarres.family the problem is people are at war with each others, they see competitions, the competitions for attention is using it so why shouldn't they use it?
So now the new thing is code, and building software quick, and creating communities around that shit software, and spamming the social media for attention? AI is a good weapon for them.
The only way out is to stop caring about them and their social media, starve their desire for attention.

You make music for twenty years and more and few people care. You try to resonate with others but it’s not working. When you take a holiday from it you come back because you can’t stop doing it.
Yet, you are still invisible.
Be honest with me tho what am I doing wrong? Should I stop? I feel people don’t want me to make music, I feel people are all pushing me away and honestly I don’t quite know why and maybe I am an absolute dumbass who should have read the sign and never get into it at all.

@shituationist@kolektiva.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org @davidgerard@circumstances.run ymmv since I am in London (UK) and there are a lot of handymen in that area. I am really shitty at doing that. Learned it the hard way. I liked sitting on a chair and make stuff on the machine personally. The other thing I liked is making music so I got enough « nope cant make a living out of it » in my life.

@tante@tldr.nettime.org @davidgerard@circumstances.run wood? where do you get the wood though? And who can pay for real wood in this economy… I had this thought lately and realised we're gearing toward a society where we go back to "working trades for the extra rich" (which is… already the case if you're working in software in one way or another)

@synte@social.toplap.org I'd say that a scene of a certain type won't mix well with a scene of an other type. Sometimes, it's about our own expectations and also, our own ego (which is, a lack of self-confidence basically) and also different language (it can be body language). I know this is fairly common to hear music is an universal language but Ah-hA, it's not that universal.
To me, scenes are always very opaque and every scenes pretend it's not at all :)
