Crazy idea : maybe the onus should be on people to talk more about what they do, the changes they work for, the hope their action brings, so that when vulnerable people start dooming, there are links to provide as proof that things are not so hopeless ?

The vet, who is the same vet who treated Tomcat for his last few years, was a delight to see again. She said she still thought of him every once in a while because he was very special 💜 She was very happy to meet TipToe too, and to start this new journey together. We let Tippi out of her bag and she immediately explored the entire consultation room, jumping on the examination table or on the desk to (true story) make a call on the phone XD The vet was like "that's a very confident cat" :P

She only calmed down after I started opening the bag slightly to put my hand in there and rub her head. She purred a bit, which I thought was anxiety, but at some point she just lied down and presented her tummy so I think she was actually relaxing a bit.

Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Wait, no, wrong story. Everything changed when she had to get into the travel bag for her first vet appointment. One thing we've known about TipToe for a while is that she HATES to be sequestered into a travel bag. This was no exception. She was SCREAMING at the top of her lungs during the entire trip there, and then for most of the wait.

This morning Tippi and I had a lazy start. She came to wake me up for her breakfast (she's really into her kibble !) but other than that it was pretty chill. So chill, in fact, that for the first time TipToe didn't fight with her cooling blanket, and instead slept on it peacefully ! It helps that I placed it on "her" chair. #LoveTipToes

Tomorrow is vet day, it's probably going to be less cute XD She needs a booster shot, nothing bad :) I've heard she is well-behaved at the vet, it's just the transport she dislikes, but you never know.

Cute things Tippi did today :

she followed me everywhere all day, even when I just went 5min to the bedroom to put away clean clothes (and she purred the whole time)
she took 5 "meds" (=snacks) on the pillow and when I put away the pillow she resumed playing
she came to the desk several times for a cuddle ; she just takes it for granted now that she can get up there and curl up into my arms while I'm typing or whatever
we played soccer with a crinkle ball for a couple of minutes XD

@Neea@corneill.es : yes ! That has been my conclusion too, talking about MY death has implication about THEIR death. I also think that, in the way I frame the conversation about how low my life expectancy probably is, noone really wants to confront the "dark" side of privilege. We talk about it in life, but not in death (...they're the same thing, but you see what I mean).

If I hadn't been able to adopt in 2026, I genuinely think I wouldn't have adopted at all, to be honest, because otherwise it'd have been much too risky.

She adds "it's the first time I have this question. We have an AI in the search bar when you look for an item and it searches the item for you". I take off my red nose and wipe the clown makeup. So basically, CDiscount has an AI that rephrases your messages to sellers, doesn't give you the ability to opt out, and either doesn't train their staff about it or trains them to gaslight you. It's delightful.

It's not about language. It's about an AI modifying my message in front of my eyes (after making me write a message in the first place, making it more obvious). She goes "we don't have an AI on the website". I ask "so how was the phrasing of my message changed ?". She goes "if you have this problem again, just refresh the page and it should disable it". I point out "but if there is no AI enabled then why would that disable anything ?". She's getting VERY annoyed with me. The feeling's mutual.

This is followed by a solid 5min of "I don't see the button" in various forms. I tell her there's nothing to see on my account specifically, I'm asking a question about disabling the embedded AI on their website. She's getting impatient, I'm getting impatient, this isn't working. She goes "well I see that the seller is foreign, in which case it just translated it into English for them". I point out that I used "rephrased" because my French message was changed into French.

So today I learned that CDiscount uses an AI in a surprising way. I've been waiting for a kitten-related package for a while, and seeing that it's stuck in Belgium (because nowadays CDiscount is a marketplace that ships from China just like AliExpress, it turns out), I sent a message to the seller. So I type my message, and after I press enter, CDiscount shows me a form with a few more boxes to check before sending it ; stuff like when the package was expected, or whether I asked my neighbors -
