@daedalus@eigenmagic.net I've had teachers who successfully—deliberately, even!—imparted useful information about how to manage a team or project. My project management class, on the other hand, taught me that I have a breaking point past which I *will* verbally excoriate the entire bullshit syllabus, to the teacher's face, during class hours. And that the concept I picked for my final presentation specifically because I knew it wouldn't take much work was still the most interesting and robust of the bunch.

There's a Great Blue Heron who lives in the park by my house which me and family call "Big Bird", because he's usually the biggest bird there. The exception being occasional visits from a whole dang *flock* of white pelicans, during which time Big Bird has been known to sulk in a well-forested nook.

I'm not even gonna ask if Fedi could reverse-engineer that, because the answer is definitely yes. Multiple examples that differ only in the target area? We could have custom Jambox voices within a week. The real question is, how applicable would any of that be to bluetooth devices at large? I think custom bluetooth audio alerts are a neat idea. So now I'm curious. How standardized are these things? Could solutions be made for certain manufacturers?

So I had a thought, partially inspired by the latest Technology Connections video. He gives bluetooth audio alerts as an example of sounds that could be better designed, but those things are basically built into the firmware. Not much to be done… unless.

I have one of those Jambox speakers from the 2010s. They had multiple voice packs that you could choose from (by flashing the correct version of the firmware). And clever people archived those, along with the software that flashes them.
