@jpm@aus.social I suspect the "test leads and multimeter conjoined" won't stay conjoined for very long, as the probes will keep getting caught on things on the workbench. There's not even a way to clip them to the watch, so they'll just be dangling everywhere. Although all credit to the copywriter for making a flaw (non-replaceable probes) into a benefit ("Don't need to insert every time")

It's not every spreadsheet, but it's always a spreadsheet.

"The 2026 Hobart Cup was run 37 metres short after track staff relied on a faulty Tasracing spreadsheet that had contained incorrect measurements since at least 2021 …
"Former staff had been aware of the errors and worked around them for years."

26.1 ºC now (Campania 26.6 ºC). You can play along at home using https://reg.bom.gov.au/tas/observations/tasall.shtml (I don't think there's an equivalent on the new improved BoM web site, and if there is I can't find it).

Hobart reached a new highest temperature for May with 25.8 ºC at 12.58 this afternoon, exceeding the 25.7 ºC registered on the 1st in 1997.
And in the time it's taken me to type this up, it reached 26.0 ºC at 13.10
Further increases remain possible.

@samwilson@wikis.world @dean@social.librem.one This is the second one, Spirit of Tasmania V. Its sibling ship Spirit of Tasmania IV is currently docked at Williamstown (it's also spent time in Scotland, Geelong and Hobart, among others). They were not able to be brought into service (Devonport–Geelong) on schedule because the port facilities at Devonport have not been built yet. Maybe October if we're lucky, I think (or was it last October … it's all a bit of a blur). Spirit V will be used as a venue for Dark Mofo in Hobart in July because you can't make this shit up.

@mackayim2022 One way valve. There’s probably a little flap or diaphragm thing inside the tube, which is pushed closed by pressure from the inside, but pushed open if the pressure is higher outside. Squeezing (deforming) the tube might help. Or pushing a chopstick into the tube, to hold the diaphragm open. I assume you want to use the gas inside to speak in a squeaky voice.
