The other source of "new paths" is major infrastructure projects where the project required to build a bike path along a freeway (for example), but then because it is on the road or rail reserve we find that the path _never_ undergoes maintenance because VicRoads/VicTrack just don't

The fixie has some lime green plastic flats, can't remember what brand but they're still going strong after a few years

Cardboard box from a bike shop, wheels & pedals off, bars turned, seat down[1] and use padding between various metal parts in the box so n hours of vibration doesn't wear things awy. Turn up to the checkin early, smile a lot, remember that every single piece of information you read online from the airline's website is meaningless if the person on the gate on the day decides there's an extra charge, or a special "airport transit charge for bulky luggage" or it has to be completely unpacked "for security reasons" and repacked on the spot travel on the bike is awesome, sometimes getting the bike there and back is not so awesome [1] this is when we discover that the seatpost has siezed edit: eg https://flic.kr/p/2nTQEXJ

(previously posted) but I also saw this genius who managed to drive up and over the concrete barrier, then park to completely block the footpath and mostly block the counter-flow bike lane - council response to this photo was to visit 30hrs later, be unable to locate the van but to say they would schedule a "parking enforcement visit" sometime "in the near future"

Can''t see that divider being made any higher, it was a blessing when it was installed, prior to that drivers would come head-on down the bike lane and bully you out of the way

Just watched a woman ignore the "No stopping" signs and park almost across a school crossing as kids were leaving, ignored the crossing guard loudly telling her NO and waving her back, then eventually got out and started abusing him that I HAVE A VERY URGENT PHONE CALL AND I HAVE TO STOP HERE

Yeah, she nearly doored me in her rush to leap out and TELL HIM OFF, but I saw that coming metres back
