That said, it does not magically make the final artefact reproducible. There can still be sources of non-determinism, and we try to track them down as much as possible. So far, things are going well! :)

@kpcyrd@chaos.social hello kp, I wanted to use it initially and I did something with it but it has some limitations. First, it changes the indentation, then it removes comments, last, it changes some values sometimes (Unicode escape, number formatting with scientific notation). Basically it doesn't have the limitations that json-sort-cli has (https://github.com/tillig/json-sort-cli#known-issues) This is the reason why it embeds its own parser. I know comments are not JSON standard, but they exist... I want json-sort to do only one thing without messing around with the rest.

@ploum@mamot.fr Je comprends et je partage la critique. Le numérique a des avantages: horaires plus facilement mis à jour, informations en temps réel, adaptation plus simple en cas de changement. Pour beaucoup d’usagers, ce sera effectivement pratique, voire bénéfique, d’autant plus qu’une grande partie de la population dispose aujourd’hui d’un smartphone. Mais cela ne change pas le fond du problème: a partir du moment ou on rend l’accès à l’information dépendant d’un dispositif connecté (autrement dit, dès qu’on ajoute une couche supplémentaire entre l’usager et l’information et qu’on rend cet accès plus indirect) on exclut de facto une partie de la population, qu’elle soit minoritaire ou non. Cela dit, aucun support n’est parfaitement universel. Un affichage papier ne résout pas tout non plus, notamment pour les personnes malvoyantes ou en difficulté de lecture, sans compter les cas où les horaires ne sont plus à jour ou sont simplement vandalisés. Mais ce constat ne justifie pas de remplacer un support imparfait par un autre qui ajoute encore davantage de prérequis et de contraintes techniques: smartphone, batterie, connexion Internet, etc etc... IMO, la bonne approche n’est donc pas de refuser le numérique, mais d’éviter qu’il devienne un passage obligé. Le QR code peut être un complément utile et il devient problématique lorsqu’il remplace toute autre forme d’accès direct à l’information, comme un "bon vieux papier". Bref,... tout est une histoire de compromis, tout le temps, partout.

@Nezchan@wandering.shop @nickofnz@mastodon.nz I understand. However, I think the key shift would not be the technology itself, but the ownership model it enables.

If autonomous cars actually work well, the incentive to own a private car changes. A self-driving car you summon when needed starts to feel much closer to public transport or shared infrastructure than a personal asset sitting idle 95% of the time in the garage, or in the street.

In that scenario, fewer cars can serve more people: higher utilisation, fewer parked vehicles, less need for everyone to own one.

Not because companies suddenly want to sell fewer cars, but because the value moves from ownership to access.

All of that is obviously not guaranteed, and it depends a lot on regulation and incentives but that is the pathway I see from autonomy to fewer cars, not blind techno-optimism.
