@aislerhq@aisler.social I built a litter tray on a load cell for my old cat that had several issues and I wanted to track his weight. It's just two wooden panels with the load cells that are placed under the litter box and an ESP32 S2 based PCB with some parts for the load cell, a display and a knob. I also added a buzzer, so it always plays a nice melody when the cat did its business 🐈️ 💩 🤣 The measurements are stored in a CSV file on the ESP32's flash memory and can be displayed with the webserver that runs on the microcontroller. https://github.com/fehlfarbe/weight-whiskers #pcb #electronics #caturday

This way of #printing #homemade #pcb s with the #3Dprinter is very fiddly and unreliable. And also time consuming... I should really try using the #tonertransfer method, but last time I tried I obtained very bad results... #electronics #electronic #circuit #ferricchloride #etching

Here's the #pcb after some manual touches... Let's cut it and put it in the #ferricchloride !

This is the first I have heard this #EDA tool. It's a fork of KiCAD, but doesn't look like it's been updated in over a month, nor does it look like it has a user base. How ever, it sounds interesting. https://www.zeo.dev/ #Electronics #PCB #Schematics

Oops. I wish that when I had copied a symbol to make a new part in #KiCad, and then proceeded to forget to update the pinout, that I had at least used a symbol that had the pinout that 95% of the SOT23-5 buck converters on the market seem to use. But no, of course I copied the symbol with a pinout that only a few chips even used. And those are all asynchronous buck converters. 🙄 #electronics #pcb #screwup

Local stratum 1 GPS NTP time server, yay! Now to see how it copes with sun and rain. The bag is an extra precaution. Tracking 36 satellites and using 19, over three networks. Current PPS tracking with σ=16ns Current jitter measured at FireBrick (NTP client) of 0.08ms, and latency of 0.7ms. Selected over any pool (via Internet) servers, understandably. Rapid #PCB #manufacturing . Turnaround time: about 3h. Yield: 67%. Minimum resolved spacing: 0.1mm, thinnest trace: 0.2mm. Minimum not resolved spacing: 0.25mm :S. Not pictured: days spent learning the craft, the simpler board with 7 failed attempts, the 3 or 4 really simple designs in between, the first attempt ever that worked flawlessly, pants stained with lye. #DIY #electronics #chemistry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMR3IXF2sWw this "homemade GPU" project is pretty neat, he doesn't go into details about the software in this video yet, but just seeing the whole process of designing and assembling this 665 amp 3.3v MCU monster is amazing #DIY #PCB #Project

I'm currently house sitting and I've brought a "dead" #HardDrive that I haven't been able to access in over twelve years. I've been protecting the drive all this time because it *was* the #backup device that worked when I put it away. It would spin up then start the clicking thing. I replaced the #PCB with the exact same #firmware from an exact same model. Still spins up but makes a different sound now. It's in the freezer. I've also got my SATA-USB dock. I figure I've got one shot to get the data off if the freezer thing works.

OK all my #electronics / #PCB fab #FediFrens 👋 I need [1] to get a custom #keypad designed & fabbed and I’m starting from a low low base of “sure I’ve put built plenty of electronics kits & learned a bit of electronics theory but mostly a long time ago & I haven’t designed anything myself”… 🙃 so what’s the best way to get started? 🤔 I found a couple of places that do custom #keyboards & have online key[board|pad] design tools, which seems about right. I don’t actually want to become an expert in custom PCB / #keyboard design, PCB fabbing, or managing Shenzhen supply chains – I just want to get this one thing made [2] and am happy [3] to exchange money for goods & services (within reason) to get it done I’ve already looked at just using a gaming keypad to do the thing but I really want to integrate the keypad into the other thing to get it to where I want it to be…     OK, there’s no need to be coy I guess – I want to put a “real” keypad into my 1:1 #3Dprinted #Apollo #DSKY (WIP pic below) what’s my optimal pathway to getting this to exist? I imagine that other DSKY nerds may want one once it exists, so the ability to turn it into a limited run after the initial prototypes are done would be a bonus pls #boost4reach 🙏     (tagging in @projectgus@aus.social, @voltagex@infosec.exchange, & @Unixbigot@aus.social for starters…) #AGC       [1] want [2] yeah, I hear it too 🤪 [3] resigned

I haven't turned on this raspberry pi 4 8gb of ram in like 3 years. I've been feeling like resurrecting it and setting it up again. What services should I install on it? What casing or peripherals should I use? #Hardware #RaspberryPi #PCB #Computing #SelfHosting

Just got one of my more involved Home Assistant integrations online. We added a pressure transducer to monitor the water pressure for our pressure tank (where the well pump comes in). We have an Olimex PoE ESP32 there already and I decided to custom design and fabricate a PCB (first time ever) as a hat for an ADS1115 ADC and connectors. It works! So we can now monitor our water pressure in excruciating real time precision. Just because. #homeassistant #esp32 #maker #pcb #olimex #poe #esphome

KiCad 10 is released! Whilst we await our own significant releases, we wanted to take an opportunity to congratulate our wider open source family members, KiCad, on the recent release of KiCad version 10. https://blog.freecad.org/2026/03/23/kicad-10-is-released/ @kicad@fosstodon.org #KiCad #Opensource #CAD #electronics #PCB
