hi again lovely #FediFrens 👋 yesterday’s #rec didn’t get me any answers on that combo so I’ll open it up to a couple of other options… so – is anyone +running #Linux* happily [1] on a 14” [2] laptop with a GPU from #MSI, #ASUS #ROG or #TUF, (or others)? requirements (somewhat flexible: – light, pref. ~1.5kg +/- – 14” max. unless it’s super-light with good battery (so a thin 1.5kg 15.6” or even 17” with 12 hour battery (🦄) would be fine 🤪) – 64GB DDR5 RAM or more (more is better, DDR5 preferred but I’m flexible on that) – good battery life, where “good” is >4 hours but longer life is better – decent GPU, but it doesn’t have to be bleeding edge (a 40xx or even 30xx or equivalent would be fine) bonus points for: – switching between onboard & discrete GPU works acceptably – sleep & suspend work (consistently) edit: added the RAM requirement that I left out of v1 🤦‍♀️   I’ve added a RIDICULOUSLY HUGE (completely optional, obvs.) poll, pls reply with a different answer if you use something you think might fot my requirements 🙏 🙃   pls #boost4reach ✨💕✨ 🙏     #ASUSROG #ASUSTUF        1 or, more realistically, grumpily-but-acceptably 😜  2 or smaller, I guess

hi lovely #FediFrens 👋 let’s talk laptop RAM! 🎉 FOR SALE / TRADE I have 2 x SAMSUNG 8GB #DDR5 5600 M425R1GB4PB0-CWMOD SODIMMs #ForSale or #trade (pic attached) these came out of my wife’s MSI gaming laptop that I immediately upgraded the RAM & SSD on after an initial boot to make sure that everything was working, so they’ve barely been used – maybe 15 mins total duty cycle so far 🤪 they seem to be going for ~AUD$200 each at the moment (😱 thanks “AI” companies, I hate it 😩) but I’m not looking to squeeze every dollar out so if you need them pls DM me an offer 🙃     WANTED TO BUY / TRADE I’m also looking to buy 2 x 16GB #DDR4 2400 #SODIMMs for another laptop – I’d be happy to consider a trade for these if you have some laying around, so long as they’re in good condition. pls also DM me about those if you have some 👀 pls #boost4reach! 🙏

OK all my #electronics / #PCB fab #FediFrens 👋 I need [1] to get a custom #keypad designed & fabbed and I’m starting from a low low base of “sure I’ve put built plenty of electronics kits & learned a bit of electronics theory but mostly a long time ago & I haven’t designed anything myself”… 🙃 so what’s the best way to get started? 🤔 I found a couple of places that do custom #keyboards & have online key[board|pad] design tools, which seems about right. I don’t actually want to become an expert in custom PCB / #keyboard design, PCB fabbing, or managing Shenzhen supply chains – I just want to get this one thing made [2] and am happy [3] to exchange money for goods & services (within reason) to get it done I’ve already looked at just using a gaming keypad to do the thing but I really want to integrate the keypad into the other thing to get it to where I want it to be…     OK, there’s no need to be coy I guess – I want to put a “real” keypad into my 1:1 #3Dprinted #Apollo #DSKY (WIP pic below) what’s my optimal pathway to getting this to exist?
