What's going to be _really_ painful for #infosec in general, and any #CISO in particular, is handling the fallout when the #AI bubble bursts, and all the #rockstar / #10x / #ninja hires in both #management and IC need to either #pivot, or #blame _anyone_ for all the dead #slop that then is clogging the organisation. If you think bad decisions are being made now wrt basics like resource and access control, or inventory, that day will add a clear incentive to hide things that right now are being thought of as "progress" or "initiative" - then they will become reasons to ask "wth were you thinking", and many will want to avoid that question, at any cost. _Especially_ management AI hires, and those are powerful opponents. Cover your butts, fellow CISOs.

RE: https://mastodon.nu/@bettina/116993665226781257 Just going to leave this fabulous quote from @bettina@mastodon.nu here: "But bosses don't change a system that benefits them. Because they don't act as stewards, but for private gain", as a friendly reminder of what #Management & #Leadership care about in case you all forgot or get told otherwise 🤯👇🏻

Almost 15 years ago, I read Dan Pink's "Drive", and learnt that bonuses don't work in knowledge businesses. I remember speaking about it to my boss who first laughed but then read the book when it was recommended to us at a lean conference we attended (my advice wasn't enough...). But bosses don't change a system that benefits them. Because they don't act as stewards, but for private gain. 「 It reinforces hierarchy and subordination to the vision of the CEO, rather than enabling individual judgment. It grossly simplifies many of the complex and multifaceted activities of management into “measurement” processes that AI can purportedly replace. It subordinates the moral and developmental aspects of business activity to abstract measurements of efficiency 」 https://www.programmablemutter.com/p/ai-isnt-management-try-explaining #ai #layoffs #automation #management

Good managers are bullshit firewalls; bad managers are bullshit amplifiers. This does not mean that you don't have to deal with BS under good management, but at least it'll be well curated and high-quality BS, and everyone rolls their eyes together. #management #softwaredevelopment #coding

Mary Parker Follett, the forgotten star of management sciences. She produced work during the 1920s regarding the power of integration and working in teams. Her thinking was very advanced for her time. To this day, her work remains more relevant and vital in today's management settings. Plenty of directions today's management and business paradigms are orienting back to the scientific management era of Fredrick Taylor and others. We keep running towards KPI's, measurements, and being obsessed with improving the numbers of those measurements. However, a genuine organisation will ensure that there is a qualitative assurance of their processes. I think it is what we are forgetting these days: that integration, power-with, and democratisation of the institution are what ultimately matter for a successful future. #management #Follett #KPI #Power

The Secret Reason Bosses Want Everyone Back in the Office, Every Day of the Week "When people aren’t in the office, it’s harder to command and control. Leaders can’t intimidate by hovering over cubicle desks and slamming doors. They can’t establish their dominance by summoning people to a conference room and pounding their fists on the table. They can’t even make direct eye contact to stare people down." The horror... https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/22/opinion/office-work-wfh-bosses.html #RemoteWork #Management
