And it's done :hellyeah: Yesterday I finally launched my migrated new blog. I moved it from slop'py hugo to the Zine SSG. Page: https://lukasrotermund.de Code: https://forgejo.lukasrotermund.de/lrotermund/blog-zine Zine is not yet v1.0, so it's not polished in every aspect. But I had a lot of fun during the migration! The new site is a lot simpler the the hugo blog. No more shortcodes, no more partials, no more themes, no JS. I have to patch a few more things and I have to find a way to add a site map, but all in all I am very happy. Check out Zine SSG! #Zine #ZineSSG #WebHosting #WebDevelopment #Development #Blog #Blogging #SSG #Hugo #Gohugo #FckAi #FckLLMs

From a 100 repos to only 20 left on #GitHub for now. I shall continue the purge tomorrow. I was able to add a #Gitea runner with Docker. So now my several #Hugo repositories are already building in Gitea as I push changed, just like they did before on GitHub Actions (also using a shared workflow now). Feels good.

WIST Quotations @wistquotes@friendica.world · Jul 20, 2026
A quotation from Hugo What was the crime? To complain. What was the crime? To suffer. Let misery hide and be silent, otherwise it is lèse-majesté.   [Quel était l’attentat? se plaindre. Quel était le crime? souffrir. Que la misère se cache et se taise, sinon elle est lèse-majesté.] Victor Hugo (1802–1885) French writer, journalist, human rights activist, politician The Man Who Laughs [L’Homme qui rit; The Laughing Man; By Order of the King], Part 2, Book 9, ch. 2 (.2.9.2) (1869) [tr. Lavelle (2003)] More about (and translations of) this quote: wist.info/hugo-victor/85062/ #quote #quotes #quotation #qotd #hugo #victorhugo #themanwholaughs #complaint #coverup #establishment #lesemajeste #misery #power #protest #suffering #treason #willfulignorance

Question for #bloggers and #web type people: Is there a smoother, quicker way to blog on #hugo ? I am getting to know the platform, and I like it (but don't know much about alternatives, being a WordPress escapee). I have it set up as a #blog on one domain. It takes around 5 minutes to post a blog entry, not including the time taken to write the entry. I don't use github, which seems to place me firmly in the minority of Hugo users. I also don't host this from my local machine; I have it on Opalstack (my no-nonsense webhost). My workflow right now is this: Navigate into my local wwww/content directoryCreate a .md file for the blog entryType the blog entryAdd any photos I might want to go with the entry, meaning resize & rename them, put them in the /images directory, and type the link in the blog entryPreview [optional, probably not necessary without images]: hugo server -D then over to my browser at localhost:1313 to make sure the post looks OK. Adjust, repeat as necessaryFire up FilezillaEnable the site (the presets for logging in and loading local & remote directories)Transfer everything from local to webhost (usually takes about 30s with "replace only if file is newer")Go see if it looks OK Step 8 (second-to-last) should theoretically be much faster with rsync but I'm getting error messages from Opalstack's server with that. I think I need their help, so maybe just assume step 8 could be simplified to an rsync command. Are there Linux packages/functions that simplify some of this? Should I just ditch Hugo and use something simpler if I'm only blogging? Is this pretty much what the future looks like for me? #Suggestions and ideas welcome. #help

Looks like the general consensus is #Hugo with #BSSG a close second. I guess I’ll check them both out. Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply!

Hey #webDev folks! I have a #static site created with #Hugo. I would like to make it behave like a "one-page" web app, so that I can have a persistent audio player on the site that will not be interrupted by navigating the site. I'm open to using #iFrames, #ssi (server side includes), #ajax - whatever gets the job done. Any ideas welcome! Please BOOST for reach!
