So New Zealand is now outsourcing the writing of its climate legislation and who and how gets to challenge it in court to the top polluters in the country. Running the country like a business, caring only about profit. All going great huh. Are we still the second best in corruption perception index? Because that seems bonkers to me now. 'No record, no recollection': Luxon on allegations of 'secret lobbying' Politics A climate activist claims climate law changes have exposed a "deliberate effort" to conceal lobbying. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/596197/a-co-ordinated-campaign-of-secret-lobbying-climate-activist #NZPol #FossilFools

And then threatening journalists who dare ask questions about the very serious conflict of interests and perceived corruption in said legislation. Are we still a democracy? 🤔 ‘I’d be careful saying that, John,’ Luxon warns RNZ host during interview https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360983419/id-be-careful-saying-john-luxon-warns-rnz-host-during-interview #NZPol #FossilFools

Donald Tantrump has spent around 2,000,000,000 taxpayer dollars buying back U.S. offshore wind leases and directing 'investment' (effectively subsidies) to #FossilFuels instead. Because delivery of fossil fuels through the Hormuz Strait is definitely reliable and in no way intermittent... #USpol #FossilFools #MAGA #GOP #TyrantTrump #NoKings #Corruption #IranWar #Trump https://apnews.com/article/trump-offshore-wind-energy-climate-interior-02a1fa04b750809bbe035a70256c734d

RE: https://flipboard.com/@ctvnews/ottawa-q9ejf5frz/-/a-GmMalqgzRvSkAtMkE2_-cA%3Aa%3A2823982346-%2F0 You could set your watch by this shit: govt announces a ‘break’ in fuel taxes, industry responds by raising prices. And of course there’s always industry Spox Dan McTeague to helpfully explain with some ‘raison du jour’ why this is ‘necessary’. This time it’s the evergreen: ‘switch to summer blend’. #Oiligarchy #FossilFools

All of this is reason to end the #oil #addiction API gravity tells us how light or heavy the oil is. • US WTI: ~40° API — light, golden, and easier to refine • Iran Light: ~34° API • Russia Urals: ~31° API • Venezuela: ~8–12° API — extremely heavy, like tar Oil quality plays a major role in global energy economics and politics — not just the amount of oil a country has. The lighter the crude, the cheaper and easier to refine into gasoline and diesel. Heavier crude requires more refining. #energy #crude #pimpsofthepumps #fossilfools

Yeah, but, what's a mere 900000 tonnes among friends? (as if you needed more evidence of how unserious this govt is about climate targets) 900,000-tonne miscalculation makes carbon target even tougher https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/585322/900-000-tonne-miscalculation-makes-carbon-target-even-tougher #NZPol #climateChange #FossilFools
