Today we had leftovers of the 김치 볶음밥※ I made the other day, and I made a fresh batch of 오이 무침※※ to go with it, this time with a significant upgrade: authentic 고추가루※※※! (The batch from the other day had used a combo of cayenne pepper and smoked paprika, since I hadn't yet acquired any 고추가루, but this has since been remedied. :neocat_thumbsup:) (※Kimchi bokkuembap = kimchi fried rice) (※※Oi muchim = spicy cucumber salad) (※※※Gochugaru = Korean chili pepper flakes) #DomesticGoddess #KoreanFood #VeganFood #FoodPhotography

Roughly 40% protein by dry weight. Among the highest of any plant food on earth, and almost nobody in an American grocery store knows it's there. Lupini have fed Mediterranean and Andean households for thousands of years. Raw, they're genuinely bitter — quinolizidine alkaloids, days of soaking and rinsing to debitter — which is why most of us should buy them already brined in a jar. Rinse, pop them out of their skins, olive oil, lemon, a great deal of black pepper. A bowl of protein for less than a coffee. Two hard cautions, and I'd rather say them twice than not enough: lupin is a recognized allergen with real cross-reactivity to peanut, so if peanuts are a problem in your house then lupin is a problem in your house. And the ornamental lupines in the garden are a different species and genuinely toxic. Admire those and walk on. What's the cheapest real protein sitting in your kitchen right now? https://thistleandmoss.com/p/what-survives-the-morning-another-week-that-wont-sit-down-2d2398dcba465b14?utm_source=PixelFed&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fedica #FoodAsMedicine #Lupini #Legumes #PlantProtein #Cooking #Foodstodon #Nutrition #FoodPhotography #Frugal #FoodSovereignty #Mediterranean #DailyGathering

Warm four cups of last night's rice in a pan with a splash of coconut milk until it drinks it in. Off the heat: the juice of a lime, a fistful of peas thawed under the hot tap, scallion charred fast in a dry skillet, crushed peanuts, salt. Seven things. Feeds four. On the table before the kettle's cool. Eating well is not a luxury tax you have to earn. Nobody goes hungry because the week was hard. What's the meal you make when you've got almost nothing left in the house? https://twp.ai/4htO7p #cooking #recipe #cheapeats #foodie #vegan #trans #queer #lgbtqia #mutualaid #solidarity #foodphotography #Photography #plantbased
