Let's talk about Sam #Tunick. Sam is an #Atlanta activist with Defend the Atlanta Forest, aka Stop Cop City. SCC had great #infosec, and the feds were hoping to bypass need for a #warrant by using border patrol. Most news stories are missing the fact that this was an #FBI action using #ICE as cover. FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force Officer Burnham and Special Agent Andrea Coble arranged for US CPB to question him and search his phone when he landed. The unidentified searching officer in the indictment serves on #CBP Tactical Terrorism Response Team, which allegedly gave FBI access to a search power they would not ordinarily possess inside the country. Sam was refused an attorney and told he couldn't enter the country until "those guys were done with him", or he unlocked his phone...so he gave them an unlock code that wiped the phone. Now they are charging him with "destruction of evidence". Sam's filing https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.gand.351975/gov.uscourts.gand.351975.21.0.pdf Red String https://21stcenturywire.com/2026/07/27/the-tunick-exception-when-the-fbi-put-constitutional-rights-on-hold-at-the-border/ #4th #5th #Kafka

#Activist charged with felony after giving border agent #DuressCode that wiped his phone The government says destroying his own data during an airport interrogation was illegal. Ryan Whitwam – Jul 27, 2026 "In early 2025, Atlanta resident #SamuelTunick was on his way home following a trip abroad. After landing in the US, customs agents demanded access to his Pixel phone, which was running an alternative version of Android called #GrapheneOS. Rather than hand over his data, Tunick used a clever feature of the software to delete everything. Now, he’s facing federal charges. "The first hearing in this case happened last week, according to The Guardian, during which government attorneys and agents claimed that Tunick was subjected to a standard secondary interrogation at an international airport. During that encounter, agents were 'looking for anything that’s prohibited.' However, Tunick’s legal team alleges he was targeted for his #activism. "Tunick was involved with a group called #DefendTheAtlanta Forest, which opposed the construction of an enormous law enforcement training facility in the area often known as #CopCity. What Tunick didn’t know, according to his lawyers, was that he’d been placed on a watch list for his actions and that Customs and Border Protection had discussed over email plans to detain him upon his arrival back in the US for 'suspected terrorism activities.' "During the interrogation, #CBP agents told Tunick they wanted to search his phone for evidence of child sexual abuse, and if he didn’t unlock the device, it would be confiscated. The government has long asserted broad authority to examine and seize electronic devices at the border for virtually any reason. Tunick claims he was never read his rights and requested legal counsel several times, but the requests were denied." @mekkaokereke@hachyderm.io There's some nuance missing here. There are two main reasons these folks work for the government. Latine folks who work for #CBP, #ICE, etc. consider themselves #Americans, and their attitude tends to be similar to #suburban #white / #anglo #Texans; they are #legal. They are nth-generation Americans because where their ancestors lived became part of the #US — especially in #Texas #Florida, #California, #Arizona, and #NewMexico. The other reason is that people from many South- and Central-American countries fall under the Latine/Latinx/Latino/Hispanic umbrella. Folks with Mexican heritage can totally want to deport gamg members from other Spanish-speaking countries. It's a self-image thing. You and I and the US Census may consider them to be Latine, but they see themselves as Americans. I'm not excusing anyone. #ACAB This is part of the 1% agenda of creating division.

bing news | Read an FBI agent's email about the impending arrest of Jeffrey Epstein AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. The article reveals an internal FBI email chain from July 2019 showing that agents received a tip that Jeffrey Epstein was scheduled to land at Teterboro Airport from Paris, prompting them to ready an arrest. The message lists Epstein’s identifying information (born January 20 1953, private‑jet tail number N212JE) and includes an attached arrest warrant, while outlining coordination with Customs and Border Protection to ensure a smooth apprehension. Agents discuss the need for roughly 24‑hour notice of his arrivals, plan to meet at the airport early, and emphasize the logistical steps required to capture Epstein as he returned to the United States. ABC News: Top Stories | First wave of tariff refunds will hit some businesses tomorrow AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. The first wave of tariff refunds is set to start hitting American businesses’ bank accounts, with U.S. Customs and Border Protection reporting that over 330,000 importers paid $166 billion in tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act before the Supreme Court ruled the program illegal. By April 26, at least 75,000 firms had applied for refunds through a new online portal, though about 15 % of claims were rejected for errors or ineligible shipments. Large companies anticipate sizable payouts—Walmart reportedly is due $10 billion, Target $2 billion, Nike $1 billion and Macy’s $320 million—and say the money will be used to pay down debt, rehire staff, restock inventory, or possibly lower prices, rather than being passed directly to consumers. Shipping firms such as UPS, FedEx, and DHL will refund customers for packages affected by the tariffs, but shoppers should not expect personal rebates for higher prices paid last year, which the Tax Foundation estimates cost the average household roughly $700. Home - CBSNews.com | Feds have rejected 15% of businesses' tariff refund claims AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. Since the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) launched its new Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries (CAPE) tariff‑refund portal on April 20, more than 75,000 refund requests have been submitted, but roughly 15 % have been rejected. The agency reports that over 47,000 claims—covering about $11 million in tariff payments—were properly filed, while many rejections appear to stem from businesses submitting claims outside the parameters allowed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act or making errors in their filings. Apart from a brief 18‑minute outage on launch day, the system has operated smoothly, a fact praised by customs officials and trade lawyers who note the rapid rollout and overall functionality of the new portal.
