Friends, this is the time of year when I remind you that #BostonMA always needs poll-workers. You don't need to live in #Boston to be one, you just need to be a registered voter in #Massachusetts. Democracy doesn't work without elections, and elections don't work without poll-workers, so please consider signing up. Start at https://boston.gov/pollworker if you might be interested.

List of #BostonMA #CommunityGardens "Our 56 community gardens —totaling 15 acres across eight Boston neighborhoods—are tended and cared for by local residents. These oases of green are sources of neighborhood pride that connect people and place. They turn neighbors into friends, strengthen family bonds and traditions, and inspire joy in the shared work of growing fresh, healthy, and delicious food." https://thetrustees.org/content/list-of-boston-community-gardens/ #SolarPunkSunday #BuildingCommunity #GreenerCities #GrowYourOwn #TrusteesOfReservations

As Seen From Buck Hill @asseenfrombuckhill@c.im · Jul 12, 2026
The Parade of Sail, Sail Boston 2026, part of the Sail250 Tour, photographed from Buck Hill on July 11th, 2026. (1/3) I don't usually do any long distance photography in the warm weather months, but it was a nice day so I thought I would give this a try. I got setup just as the parade was getting underway at 9am and photographed continually until about 12:30p when my battery went dead. The ships were traveling from east to west and there were generally three 'windows' where I could see them, between Long Island and Spectacle Island (these often have Deer Island in the background), between Spectacle Island and Thompson Island (with Winthrop in the background), and between Thompson Island and Castle Island (with Logan Airport in the background). When I first started there was a lot of haze out over the water. That gradually burned off, but was quickly replaced with air turbulence as the air heated up. I have not had much luck making identifications of individual ships. I was hoping to find a simple parade order that might assist, but so far I have come up empty. #BuckHill #BlueHills #BlueHillsReservation #Boston #BostonMA #BostonHarbor #BostonHarborIslands #ParadeOfSail #SailBoston #SailBoston2026 #Sail250 #Sail250Tour #TallShips #Landscape #LandscapePhotography #Photography #LongDistanceObservations #OlympusEM5 #CanonFD #500mm

From @quinn@social.circl.lu I learned to be grateful that I have seen the tops of clouds. From living in Boston I learned to be grateful that I have lived to see the spring blossoms again. Few things are more tear-inducingly beautiful than cherry blossom rain. #BostonMA #CambridgeMA #spring #flowers

leaflet for a new play in Boston, c.1890 The "Museum" was a theater on Tremont Street. I can't find a date for this production, but they were in business from 1841-1903.
