The #FAA has confirmed that Electra's ultra-short take-off and landing airplane will be certified as... an #airplane. Although not surprising, it's a big deal for #Electra, which is positioning its EL9 to compete with #eVTOL aircraft. The Ilyushin Il-22 was the first Soviet jet-engined bomber to fly on 24 July 1947. Powered by four Lyulka TR-1 turbojets, it was under powered, as the engines only produced 80% of their planned thrust. Now that I am retired from my decades-long career as my Ad Agency's Creative Director, graphic designer, etc., I do not get the opportunity to do much in this space. So I'm having a ball helping a friend prepare his presentation he will give 3/2 to my #EAA chapter on the three tours he spent as an Air Traffic Controller in #Antarctica.
