After 2 years of waiting, the Godot pull request for transform offsets in Control nodes is FINALLY MERGED!

This is a big deal for anyone doing UI in Godot, because it means you can finally animate nodes inside containers by offsetting them. This was my biggest pain point.

I've been working on an all-in-one file converter program, currently using ffmpeg and imagemagick in the background.

It's still VERY early but I wanted to show it off anyway! The goal is for it to be a super simple alternative to all those "convert X to Y" websites, without needing to mess with complex settings to get results.

P.S. if you're good at ffmpeg or imagemagick, I could really use help. I'm in over my head and they're frustrating to learn.

I updated my "minifying Godot export size" article to Godot 4.5, which added some extra build options. Using those, I managed to squeeze the Windows export to just 5.37MB!

Despite the Fediverse being cool and not controlled by one entity, it's still vulnerable to astroturfing. The best we can do is be aware about it. Keep yourself grounded, understand that just because something is upvoted doesn't mean it's legitimate, and call out bad actors. For admins and moderators, check the upvote history of sus posts, they could be alt accounts (this happened on Lemmy). If the Fediverse user is aware of these things, we'll be way harder to trick. It's not something you'll notice at a surface level - but it's something you'll feel. A subreddit suspiciously posting too many memes about a TV show. Comments from random accounts supporting or trashing some movement. Social media algorithms promoting one side of the argument and silently censoring others. It's happening, and it's dangerous. I have my issues with the Fediverse (including some elitism here and there), but I'm so glad it exists and I love being here. (2/3)

Preaching to the choir, I know, but I wanted to share this post that's been making the rounds.

Someone claims to have bought a subreddit from its mods; whether or not it's true, he's absolutely right that this happens and is dangerous. People don't realize just how much modern social media is being manipulated.

I don't usually make off-topic posts like this, but I felt it was warranted considering how bad things are getting. (1/3)

This could open the door for way more ambitious webgames and experiences, but it's still a ways off from being supported by every browser on every platform. Maybe in a few years...
