@oblomov @gsuberland @cstross @WellsiteGeo @quixoticgeek @owent @alicemcalicepants @nullcolaship @davidtheeviloverlord @edwinb yeah, but that just uses the same limited definition of a a boundary as \b, i.e. between a word (\w) and non-word (\W) character. The whole point of the Unicode definition is that it understands more of what constitutes a natural-language word.

@MelissaBearTrix@gives.hugz.online not directly, but I once overheard some teenagers thinking my wife and I were a lesbian couple (I have long hair and was wearing a black kilt) until they spotted my beard

@bagder@mastodon.social Fair enough. I'm mostly asking because PostgreSQL is switching from autoconf+make (but not automake) on Unix and a pile of homegrown perl for Windows to just meson for both.
I think the main driver was the pain from the duplication for Windows (which most postgres hackers don't use), not autoconf as such.

@bagder@mastodon.social Just out of interest, do you have an opinion on meson/ninja compared to those two?

@brunogirin @RobinBobcat @Popehat I like saying "I don't know, let's find out together!" when people ask me for help with something about which I have general knowledge but not the specific detail.
