I’m sure someone somewhere in human existence has quoted something similar but that just came to me this morning and it’s applicable in more than just computing.

@rl_dane@polymaths.social there doesn’t seem to be a marketable reason to capture video footage of human beings that doesn’t involve tracking in all it’s capacities. Especially in public places. And Meta is keeping all of that data, even worse if the faces they are scanning have accounts, rest assured that info will be associated. If it was any other company I might give them the benefit of the doubt.

I don’t think Gnome 50 likes my KVM switch. Ubuntu 26.04 LTS did the same thing and so did Fedora 44 with Gnome.

(stock) Google Android is becoming more and more just a platform for Gemini AI. I owned a Pixel for a few years and this has been and continues to be the case. Third party apps are only there because Google knows you need them. Gemini is basically in all the major Google services apps and even if you go through and toggle everything off you are still feeding the AD monster with metrics. GET AN ADBLOCKER ON EVERY DEVICE THAT YOU CAN. (easiest way to fight back against AD companies)

Paying for Brave Origins, or even a search engine seems like a more and more viable choice. Sadly we are reaching pay to play territory.

Just about every consumer facing operating system, search engine and service is using AI now to some extent. I’ve seen folks switching to #openbsd from Linux/Mac/Windows…but what about other services? Proton has AI, and damn near every internet search engine has AI, even the ones that claim to be private and secure. I’d be interested in hearing some realistic tech stacks and workflows that don’t involve tools with AI in them or created with the help of AI. If you are willing to share please comment. #ai #noai #linux #macos #windows
