@FoxVK@mastodon.sandwich.net I have to respectfully disagree. IPv6 is easier, yes different, performing better and give one end to end connectivity. Furthermore it enables things which are not possible with legacy IP. Living in a #IPv6 first country, this is obviously to me. @nivex@tenforward.social

IMHO

Which you can use to readout the metering data: https://www.ptb.de/cms/ptb/fachabteilungen/abt2/fb-23/ag-234/info-center-234/trudi.html IPv4 only with my metering company. https://community.symcon.de/t/intelligentes-messsystem-ueber-ueber-han-auslesen/131139/163

@q But the SMGW is not controlled by optical PIN, right? It is the mMe where you enter the PIN. Part of my upgrade was to scrap the perfectly fine mMe and install a new iMsys. And I learned that putting the LTE antenna inside of the (metal) cabinet leads to better reception than placing it outside of the cabinet. 🤔 mMe + SMGW = iMsys

@q iMsys or mMe iMsys (the smart meter gateway with the LTE-M modem) is unfortunately #IPv4 only and Mobile Network Operators have to have NAT64 / PLAT until eternity. And users of the HAN as well. :-(

@mWare@ottawa.place @miyuru@ipv6.social Thank you for sharing this information. This is the same I hear from small ISP in DE also. Which I fully understand, as the average customer plugs in the CPE and is happy that it works. But cannot attribute issues in their daily usage with e.g, NAT444. In Europe you need to rent or buy legacy addresses which eats heavily into the profit margins of any ISP. And than they also need to buy expensive CGNAT boxes. You might be in a lucky position to have enough legacy addresses.
