@vanElden@hachyderm.io ... this tab with mastodon is one of the smallest I have at about 150MB RAM usage. The access to the virtualisation platform uses 2GB of RAM. So with around 10-15 tabs, 16GB are getting a bit tight. That is before I start emacs in which everything else runs.

@vanElden@hachyderm.io I tried that some years ago with a mini notebook, which even fit into the pocket. However, it was too often that repositories were missing or that files were not mirrored (requirement for the disk size). The RAM requirement is mostly for the browser, 16GB can also work, but memory pressure is usually there when running a couple of tabs. I actually just checked...

@vanElden@hachyderm.io I looked for those many times, but everytime I found something else was a show stopper ..my rough requirements are 32gb ram, decent CPU , Linux compatibility, SSD with at least 1tb. But technically, e-ink would probably be the best for that case

I found a notebook that has a somewhat usable screen in direct sunlight. Now I notice it is getting too hot. The surface of the notebook, as heated up by the sun. I fear that my year long plan of working in the sun finally found a real world problem that I cannot easily solve.

@tobru@mstdn.social ... And the worst in my experience are IBM servers, which actually don't output anything on the screen for minutes during the boot process. So you are not sure if they are on, off, the screen is off or whether the system is just broken. Or coffee off missing.

I found the reason why people hear worse when they get older. Due to my highly scientific research I can conclude: the cry of small children makes you hear worse, almost deaf. The solution is as easy as permanent: if humanity stops to have children, everyone will hear much better. To be proven by the next generation.

Imagine you are hired to fix things in an infrastructure, but the whole team insists on doing it "the established way". Might be ok in some situtaions, but it can cause confusing things such as: "This kubernetes pod can never be restarted, it will always crash. Also, another pod needs to be stopped, when it is started, but can be restarted later."
