Now, with big things handled, I think I should spend some time returning to my regular shenanigans, as well as some new ones. Get ready for some photo spam as I plough through my backlog (there will be baby foxes), maybe a blog, and some miscellaneous contributions for any project I use where something irks me!

@Purple so yeah, you are not alone. I used to think my (now previous) employer mostly had a staff that actually somewhat cared about the craft. I am not so sure anymore. On the contrary, I more and more get questioned on or have to justify my decision to avoid these tools wherever I can (sure, being able to do so is a privilege, depending on current pressure at wherever one works to feed and house themselves).

@Purple I was lucky to be in a project where this effect was somewhat subdued. Outside of that context: I just got started scrolling through the docs to configure something specific, only for someone else to pose a question to a chatbot, which of course made something up. A senior colleague was trying to get a camera drone to launch, I open the manual online, he started talking into his phone (guess who got the right answer, though the LLM nonsense was tried first). There’s more.

Since I have not found any takers yet for the single person hotel room (no longer available, had to use it myself), I would like the other option I found (see quoted toot, bed in 6 bed dorm with chaos creatures in a&o Hauptbahnhof, 26.-31., 108€) to not have to pay my ADHD tax as well.

@yurisizov@mastodon.gamedev.place yeah. The Asahi project had cobbled something together for a while now (you could literally play more games in an (M1/2) Mac running linux than macOS). They even utilized the extensions that hardware has for helping with x86 emulation.

@soatok huh. That really is a good perspective. I think I still need to internalise part of that. I think I have grown to enjoy meeting / being around awesome people doing cooler stuff. But I still know/think that I do very little cool stuff, or maybe not all of the stuff I want to be doing. Kinda plays into things like being shy around those people or potentially new ones… But that is not really a problem when one thinks about it, and yes, truly desirable…

There might be special cases where the pure “agent” might be harmful (because of extreme dosage), and the diluted form actually having a benefit, but in general, either you get the adverse effect or nothing happens (dosage too low for anything to happen). At this point I would have though windows fully forces you into an online account, at least they are getting rid of more and more options. I sat in front of a windows 11 for the first time a few days ago, and I only barely understand how this is still the standard. I fear a lot of the image of being difficult (partially due to some parts of the community) is the biggest thing, even if not that true anymore…
