@trebach@functional.cafe @stux@mstdn.social I have invidious set up on my home server for that with a shortcut on my phone to open a shared YouTube video up in Invidious. Not ideal but works well enough for me.

@stux@mstdn.social I use a Pi-Hole to block all the ads at home. It even blocks all the interstitial ads in games which is nice.

@Haste yes true. At least medical equipment has a lot of regulations so hopefully won’t be affected. Everything else though I can see becoming more buggy.

@cwebber@social.coop I definitely have this like/hate relationship with AI. I feel like there are so many genuinely useful things that could be done with AI and machine learning. Things like early cancer diagnosis and accessibility tools. I must admit AI has helped me with coding when I have got stuck too. It is just a shame all the focus is on replacing human creativity. I am sure 90% of the useful use cases could also be done with small on device models that don’t wreck the environment.

My wife wanted a simple habit tracker but all the options on the AppStore seemed to require a monthly or yearly subscription 🤮 (#enshittificaton at work). So naturally I did what any sane developer would do and built one myself. We have been using it with TestFlight for the past year but I have finally got around to releasing it. All data is stored locally, no tracking and no subscriptions.

It even has a cute bear logo that my wife designed.

I couldn’t agree more with @mre@mastodon.social, everyone should have a blog. When I was at school (late 1900s😉) all my friends had a website and it was fun reading people’s posts and seeing what they shared. I miss those days.
