Il bis a Wimbledon ha regalato a Jannik Sinner un’altra giornata scandita dalle tradizioni del torneo più antico del tennis. Dopo la premiazione con la principessa Kate, l’incontro con la famiglia reale, la passerella nel celebre corridoio dell’All England Club e l’affaccio dal balcone con il trofeo, per il numero uno del mondo è arrivato anche uno degli appuntamenti più caratteristici dei Championships: il Champions’ Dinner. Come vuole la consuetudine, il vincitore del singolare maschile e la campionessa del torneo femminile hanno aperto la serata con un ballo.
Dodici mesi fa Sinner aveva condiviso la pista con Iga Swiatek, in un’esibizione rimasta famosa soprattutto per l’imbarazzo dei due campioni. Alla vigilia lui aveva scherzato: “Il mio modo di ballare è molto, molto scarso. Mi metterò in imbarazzo”.
Quest’anno il copione si è ripetuto, ma con qualche piccolo segnale di maggiore disinvoltura. Sulle note di Can’t Stop the Feeling! di Justin Timberlake, Sinner e Linda Noskova hanno eseguito pochi passi essenziali, senza particolari virtuosismi. Sui social non sono mancati i commenti ironici, ma il campione italiano ha chiuso il momento con un sorriso, allargando le braccia e alzando il pugno come dopo un punto decisivo. Anche per lui, ormai, questi appuntamenti fanno parte del ruolo di campione.

Sinner’s second-round match at Wimbledon gave Jannik Sinner another day dictated by the traditions of the world's oldest tennis tournament. After the award ceremony with Princess Kate, the meeting with the royal family, the walk down the famous All England Club corridor, and the view from the balcony with the trophy, the number one in the world also had one of the most characteristic appointments of the Championships: the Champions’ Dinner. As custom dictates, the men's singles winner and the tournament women's champion opened the evening with a dance.
Twelve months ago, Sinner shared the court with Iga Swiatek, in an exhibition that became famous above all for the embarrassment of the two champions. Ahead of it, he joked: “My way of dancing is very, very poor. I’m going to embarrass myself.”
This year the script repeated itself, but with a few small signs of greater ease. To the tune of Justin Timberlake's "Can’t Stop the Feeling!", Sinner and Linda Noskova performed a few essential steps, without particular virtuosity. There were ironic comments on social media, but the Italian champion closed the moment with a smile, spreading his arms and raising his fist as after a decisive point. For him too, these appointments are now part of the role of a champion.
