Spending some time with our performance of Stuart Beatch's Chosen Family at Choral Canada's Podium in Victoria this past May... I could sing the first 60 bars of this movement over and over and never get tired of it. I've never performed something that simulates floatedness and contentedness like this. It takes me right to Thousand Palms outside of Palm Springs. That oversold audience in what has to be one of the most rewarding spaces I've ever performed in - St. Andrew's Cathedral was nothing like I've ever performed for before. You could hear a pin drop between movements. That space gave back so much more than we gave. For context, I've sung at Carnegie and St. Andrew's has it beat. The Winspear Centre also has Carnegie beat. I'm forever thankful and forever grateful we could bring John Barton's text to music, and having him in the audience just meant the world. The Original Narco Hoy escuché a un par de académicos hablar de la relación entre el crimen organizado, el narcotráfico, la trata de personas y el capitalismo. Hablaban como si se tratara de un fenómeno nuevo, incluso acuñando el neologismo «capitalismo criminal». Parecía que estas personas ignoraban la historia de la reina Victoria, que empujó el opio a China, India, Afganistán, Persia, para doblegar y dominar a estas naciones. Si bien nadie puede negar que el capitalismo muta y evoluciona constantemente (después de todo la innovación tecnológica es una de sus características centrales, Marx dixit), todos los fenómenos de los que hablaban sucedían desde hace siglos. En el siglo XIX la Pérfida Alvión también secuestraba a personas para usarlas como esclavos (los coolies, además del tráfico de esclavos trasatlántico), como sicarios (los cipayos), y empujaba deliberadamente drogas para destruir el tejido social y condenar a generaciones enteras a la adicción y la miseria. Si hay una diferencia notable, además de los avances tecnológicos tanto en armas como en drogas sintéticas, es que en el siglo XIX esto era mucho más abierto y público que ahora, que la CIA y la DEA controlan el tráfico internacional de drogas de forma más subrepticia. Non lo avevano taggato, in quanto il primogenito li avrebbe da tempo bloccati, ma ciononostante il giovane non l’avrebbe presa bene. La reazione di Brooklyn Beckham D’altronde già qualche mese fa, Brooklyn e la moglie Nicola Peltz avevano avvisato i Beckham tramite una nota legale di non contattarlo, menzionarlo o parlare di lui via social, ma solo attraverso i legali.
