Google and Meta both shipped facial recognition this week, days apart, for two different stated reasons — account recovery, catching AI catfish. Back in April I wrote about the gap between what "Hide My Email" implies and what it actually promises. Now we have a court case. Apparently Apple knew about a Hide My Email flaw for over a year, said it was fixed when it wasn't, and kept selling the feature the whole time. https://blog.ppb1701.com/the-word-hide-is-now-a-legal-question #apple #privacy #hidemyemail #classaction #bigtech #userhostile #icloud #blog

Meta announced a fix so your smart glasses can't be secretly used to record people. Same week, it's testing "always-on" glasses that record everyone, all the time, and may not even light the warning LED. Same week, Instagram opted your public photos into AI image generation by default. 🤔 https://blog.ppb1701.com/always-on-always-watching #meta #google #ai #aiglasses #smartglasses #privacy #bigtech #surveillance #userhostile #blog
