When I was six, we had a costume festival at school. I somehow convinced my parents to let me go as a girl (I was AMAB). People kept asking, "Who are you?" and "Why aren't you wearing a costume?" I wasn't confused in the slightest. I was exactly who I wanted to be. It's funny how a tiny childhood memory can spend decades quietly explaining itself. 🌸 (I do have a photo of me that day. We had a super day out and about yesterday - with great people - and then Isabel made delicious bangers & mash with a rich shallot and garlic gravy. Tired after it (well I am, @IsabelB@mastodon.ie is her normal energetic self!) so we're relaxing over coffee ... it's about 20°C and bright ☀️ here. Hotter in the direct sun and I'm being photo bombed again, by someone very lovely in blue 💕 No real news but I got my latest blood test results back from Kindred Clinic. I had a reading for GNT~ of 11 which seemed a bit high for daily gin and tonics, even for me? 🍸 ~(Reader - turns out it I misread it, and it was GGT or Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase, so now you know) Anyway enjoy your day ... #Transjoy

Two months post bottom surgery today! 🏳️‍⚧️ I'm doing okay, and everything is mostly healed. I am still dealing with a lot of hypersensitivity, but overall I am becoming much more independent, which feels like a huge step forward. I still need to regain my stamina, and I cannot sit or stand for long periods of time yet. That said, last Sunday I took my little one to a concert and spent about 12 hours away from home with no chance to lie down. I was in pain the next day, but thankfully it was nothing Tylenol could not handle. Recovery is still a process, but I am grateful for how far I have come in these first two months. 💜 #BottomSurgery #TransJoy #PostOpRecovery #GenderAffirmingCare

I had a pair of earrings I was going to wear, too, but I couldn't manage to finagle them onto my ears before it was time for my appointment. Happy Pride, you magnificent rabble. 🌈💜 Today the parade rolls through both the cities I call home. And of all the enemies I've managed to survive, bigots, bureaucrats, social expectations, and my own parents, the one thing that nearly keeps me away is... my foot. A gym injury. Really? That's the villain we went with? Never mind. If I have to hobble, I'll hobble. If I have to limp, I'll limp. You'd have to do a lot more than annoy one rebellious little foot to keep me away from Pride. After all, society couldn't crush the queer out of me. My parents couldn't crush the queer out of me. And our community did the exact opposite: it gave me the courage to become myself. Queer. Enby. Proud. Still standing. Mostly. So if you see someone in platform Mary Janes, rainbow gear, purple socks and stuff, and an expression that says, "Yes, this hurts. No, I'm not leaving," come and say hello. Because we are still here.
