Am Freitag, 24.07.2026, wird um 18 Uhr die #Werkschau des Fachbereich #Gestaltung der Hochschule #Bielefeld an der Lampingstraße feierlich eröffnet. Öffentlich zugänglich und Eintritt frei! The last entry in the diary of the participative artistic construction site in the Ecosphere "Living Forest" near Rietberg is now published on the shelter website. Wednesday I have my exam. From friday evening to sunday evening (24th-26th july 2026) the documentation of "Common Shelter" can be visited at the Werkschau exhibition that is free and open for all. You are invited! You may also wish me luck for this last steps during my studies. Auf der Shelter-Webseite findet sich nun auch der letzte Bautagebuch-Eintrag der künstlerischen Mitmachbaustelle im "Living Forest" bei Ecosphere (nahe Rietberg). Eine offizielle Einweihung und Einträge bei https://1nitetent.com https://welcometomygarden.org und in der OpenStreetMap folgen noch (bei letzterem hoffe ich ja auf die Mapping-Community, aber eventuell wartet ihr, bis der verlinkbare Infotext erstellt ist)... https://shelter.apgw.de/#2026_07_10 Ab morgen baue ich an der Hochschule (mit Helfer*innen) meine Werkschau-Präsentation dieses Gestaltung-Master-Projektes. Am Mittwoch findet dort meine Prüfung statt. Von Freitag Abend bis Sonntag Abend (24.-26.7.2026) ist die Dokumentation zu "Common Shelter" im Rahmen der Werkschau am Fachbereich Gestaltung zu besichtigen. Ihr seid herzlich eingeladen! At the participative shelter construction site of the "Gestaltung" master's project "Common Shelter" we finalized the sidewalls and the roof from friday to monday. Part of it were layers of a green roof, with mats of pre-grown plants. More in the construction diary: https://shelter.apgw.de/?lang=en#2026_06_12 Also examples of inspiring art were present at the construction site, in form of the (german) books "30 years - Joseph Beuys - 7000 oaks" and "Arte povera - Manifests, Statements, Critiques" (translation by me). Parts of it will be included in my master's thesis I have to finish until july the 7th 2026. Participative Construction Site(s): Last work at the ecosphere shelter in Rietberg will be possibly done from 10th to 12th july 2026. From 17th to 19th july I have to build an additional temporary shelter in front of the Faculty of Design (Lampingstraße 3) of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Bielefeld for the "Werkschau" (exam exhibition). The participative shelter construction site at the "ecosphere" farm project near Rietberg in Germany is part of my "Gestaltung" master's project "Common Shelter". It should also be a stepstone to empower climate friendly travels, by bike and foot, and make it easier.

Last building weekend we got the front roof laths ready and started with the side walls. They are also nearly finished. You can read more in our construction diary: https://shelter.apgw.de/?lang=en#2026_06_12

Our plan is:

  1. If it's too hot: Go to the near "Sennebach", find a place in the shade, cool down in the water.

  2. Fix the roof edge and glue a permanent EPDM foil onto the roof + layers of green roof plants.

  3. Build the last side and back walls.

  4. Create a front edge from oak wood and paint linseed oil varnish on the inner floor.
