The #SanFranciscoMarathon #SFMarathon was this morning, with the #Ultramarathon starting last night.
The #SFChronicle story lists the top finishers. Most of the fastest finishers were local to #SFBayArea, with some folks from #Arizona or #Colorado. One name from #Canada, one from #Japan (who I think won both a 5K and the half-marathon!).
First, congratulations to everyone who participated and to those who pushed and won!
But… where are the #Kenyans? Where are the other international runners? This is the first time in my more than 30 years here that this race hasn’t been dominated by African stars. Even when the rest of the world is mad at us, SF is considered different and welcoming.
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe this is normal and I wasn’t paying attention closely in other years. But it seems kinda weird.🤔
