@hikari@social.noyu.me The knowledge is there still, compressed into multidimensional vector trees. The last 30 years all the knowledge workers were pontificating how HUMAN KNOWLEDGE grows at such a geometric rate that no one can keep up. Before #Ai came, #researchers stopped reading papers, they were reading abstract only, because the volume was just too damn high. Now every arsehole with a high token budget can conduct their own #metastudy of hundreds of papers. If you want to lament how human #knowledge is changing for the worst, the action time, as usual in a case of a catastrophe, was decades earlier. #epistemology

#BigTech accused of stonewalling #European social media #researchers In the final weeks before Romania’s presidential vote in November 2024, #TikTok accounts that had previously spent years posting about manicures or fashion suddenly started promoting a little-known #politician named #CalinGeorgescu. The #Trump admin’s latest concession about the #grants came in a #lawsuit filed by a group of #California #researchers challenging various federal agencies that have canceled #Biden era #funding. After reviewing its spending, the Trump #Energy Dept last fall created a list that recommended canceling >600 grants awarded by the Biden admin for a wide range of novel energy projects. That list included funding for projects in #states represented by both #Republicans & #Democrats. #MafiaState #law
