I hate that this is my first proper toot but here we go I guess. The situation at $dayJob is dire and I'm in search of a new place. I'm a full stack software engineer with 4y experience with expertise in back-end, systems programming and real-time embeeded software. I do C++, C, Rust, Python, TypeScript and tbh whatever you throw at me I'll do it allright. New level of enshittification unlocked. Some of the jobs I'm applying for are now adding my email from my job application to their marketing emails to buy their services. I'm noticing more often submitting a job application now requires you to accept a fucking Terms of Service before you can submit it.

I recently ended a contract to write copy for a large pediatric research network (ended is probably not accurate... the current government administration gutted funding), and though I have other clients, I wanted to see what other writing jobs were out there. I started with #LinkedIn and was really disappointed by the 3.3% application-to-interview rate on that platform. I can't say I have ever really used it for networking, but I can tell you that only 3.3% rate of job seekers submitting a resume/application on that platform resulting in an interview is REALLY, REALLY bad. Why do people rely on that platform to look for work? #Writing #Copywriting #Advertising #Marketing #JobSearch
