🚨 OCEAN HEAT: Last year, our seas absorbed heat equal to almost 40 TIMES all energy humanity used. With 84% of global coral reefs struck by bleaching-level heat stress, fossil fuel corporations and industrial meat and dairy are cooking our living ocean for profit. Protect our oceans NOW. #oceans #marinelife #heat #extremeheat #climatechange #climatecrisis #climate #protecttheoceans

Australian wildlife are seeking out buildings as substitute habitats as their natural homes and hollows are being destroyed "In New South Wales, the Wires rescue service said animals often sought shelter during cold or extreme weather. We’re in a biodiversity crisis and a housing crisis." "While architecture often focused on ways to keep nature out, there were opportunities to design buildings that were better for both people and wildlife. That could include wildlife-friendly lighting and noise reduction measures, as well as habitat features, like swallow shelves or possum boxes." “One of the things that I would really like to see in Australia, is that we think about embedding the ecologist in the design process like you would with, say, an engineer." >>. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/sep/06/possums-in-the-roof-koalas-in-bed-study-shows-how-animals-resort-to-australian-homes-after-habitat-loss #biodiversity #wildlife #housing #habitat #destruction #sharedspaces #ExtremeHeat

I just wanted to cancel an important appointment because the extreme #heat makes me unable to go outside into that oven. Their answering machine was at the limit. They called me back: Yes, everybody wanted to cancel today but your appointment is tomorrow. It will be a little bit cooler then. If not, just call again tomorrow how you feel. This is what the heat does to brains, answering machines, and appointments. #heatwave #ClimateDiary #extremeHeat #ClimateAdaption

As wildfires rage, the world is backsliding on climate action. This can’t go on (The Guardian) Even as more than 35,000 wildfires rage across the surface of our world, and as we continue to rewind our planet’s climate so it resembles hotter episodes from its distant past, governments and trading blocs are very deliberately turning away from climate action. The latest evidence that we are not only doing too little but actually doing less as time goes by is provided by the climate action media platform, We Don’t Have Time. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/jul/29/wildfires-rage-world-climate-action-scientists-fossil-fuels #ClimateCrisis #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #wildfires #ExtremeHeat #heatwave #FossilFuel #GreenhouseGasEmissions #GlobalWarming

📢 Heat impacts all communities, not just large cities. In our new American Planning Association Planning Advisory Service (PAS) Memo, we explain the need for rural heat resilience and outline actionable principles and strategies for rural communities and small towns. Co-authored by @SaraMeerow@fediscience.org, Anne-Lise Boyer, and Minwoo Ahn. https://www.planning.org/publications/document/9331842/#extremeheat #climatechange #heatresilience #ruralplanning
