Guess who didn't change directories correctly and ran ~$ cd ./ && rm -rf ./* $HOME went from 1.4TB to 815GB in the seconds before I could stop the process. I didn't lose anything critical. Just a bunch of convenience stuff, some non-critical notes, and everything in ~/Desktop$ which was mostly convenience links and stuff. Probably more I can't think of, but nothing worth crying over. Rebuilding the critical stuff from two day old #backups now. #Linux #shell #Sigh

Last before-vacation #maintenance done. #VPN configured, shutdown on low #UPS battery tested, #backups in place. I’m about to leave my #homelab alone for 8 days. To rest and unwind from everything.

Habe meinen digitalen Souveränitätstest gemacht. Eigentlich bin ich ganz gut aufgestellt, muss aber unbedingt anfangen #Backups und co zu machen, ist schon peinlich, dass ich fast keine hab. Bei der Kommunikation würde ich ja gerne von #WhatsApp auf #Signal oder #Threema wechseln, das funktioniert aber dummerweise nicht allein.#digitalesouveränität www.digitale-autarkie.de

That was close 😓 The SSD in my server was down to 2% life, at 0% it goes into read only mode.. or just outright fails. It definitely wouldn't boot anymore. I bought a replacement drive, an Intel data centre SSD. I cloned the server drive to the new one today, thankfully #nextcloud is back up and running. Make sure you make #backups people, particularly if you #selfhost it will work until it doesn't. I should have received warnings about the drive condition, oh well.

Liebe #it Menschen. Ich bräuchte mal #fedipower von euch. Ich suche einen #cloudspeicher Anbieter auf den ich #backups ablegen kann. Dabei möchte ich selbst bestimmen, was wann mit welcher #verschlüsselung übertragen wird. Am liebsten ist mir, wenn ich den Speicher einfach mounten kann um ihn per #shell #script zu befüllen. Keine fancy Clients, oder Webclients nötig. Das Volumen ist eher im TB als im GB Bereich. #dsgvo Konformität und Bezahlbarkeit wären super. Alle Clients sind #linux. Danke!

Found an issue with the Borg backup cron job, but got that fixed up and ran backups for today. Fortunately, this one didn't take 20 hours...lol. Backups are now verified but I'll feel better if the cron job works as expected tomorrow. #homelab #borg #backups
