I'm looking around for a UPS with good runtime as backup power for my modem in power outages; i.e., not 23 minutes, but several hours.
It's frustrating trying to read through fake reviews and AI slop.
#DuckDuckFedi, I would love recomendations from people who know what they're talking about for A) brands & models or B) reliable info sources/reviews for a UPS suitable for a modem with 7+ hours runtime (my current standard to beat). Thank you.

First off #UPS has a strong #union (they also honored OUR picket lines for which I am always grateful) and

If you are in a union, check and see if you have language in your contract and then enforce it.
I have been on almost EVERY negotiation team for our union 10+ at this point and you could have the greatest PRO worker contract the world has ever seen but it is all for not if members are NOT willing to hold the employer accountable for violating it

Hmm, backup power plans vs. power outage, and find (yet again) a UPS not up to snuff. (I guess the data center managers put their battery cycling on a schedule, versus replacing them when they fail). Needs to be a budget item, I guess. Also this system here is plugged into a UPS, but apparently it's plugged into the "power conditioning only, no backup" outlet 😂

That's right! They always corrupt my address so it looks more like a different street in the same postal code.
I would never choose them, but it's often an unwelcome surprise to get an email that something is on the way. Most recently, I wasn't able to correct it, or release delivery without a signature, so I had to drive 25 km each way to pick it up. Useless!
