Are there any bicycle navigation apps that can exclude kissing gates from a route? Google maps is utterly chronic. OsmAnd and CoMaps are much more reasonable but there's no obvious way to skip the kissing gates. Full on car navigation routes lose a lot of the nice quiet street and contra flow benefits of bicycling. #rothar #BikeTooter #KissingGates

@Colman@mastodon.ie The Tolka isn't too far away (I think tat's why I saw the arse of a bat once, but no regular bats, why live near me when you could live in luxury...). So I've also seen a few beast dragonflies pass through my garden, but they don't stay long enough to despatch pests.

Tell me, #gardening types, how can I have standing water for hover flies but not have standing water for mosquitoes? I tipped out water yesterday I figured had the wrong sort of larva wriggling in it. In Dublin, Ireland if that makes a difference. And if anyone has the secret to filling my garden with dragonflies and damselflies , let me know. A pond is on my medium term plans

My new favourite toys are a lopper and a shredder. This garden isn't exactly gonna become tidy, but it'll be a little more under control with some lovely zero mile mulch...
The crab apple no longer blocks the path and looks more like a tree.

Three Sisters Craft in Glasnevin mostly sells hand made gifts and cards (all lovely, with named artists) but also (to my peril) have a small amount of offcuts and crafting materials for sale too...

I think this will be a cute blouse but I need to find some skulls or something for buttons

@borisv@fosstodon.org it's not the only constraint though, so is QA and code review. And maintenance is now a nightmare. The proof of concept was always the easy bit. It's why early developments and product development were always in tension, "we've shown the thing is possible" but now it has to be made robust, shippable, maintainable, extensible... That's the hard part the slot machine is no good for.
