AI made it cheap to generate product ideas and ship a beautiful demo of any of them. It didn't make it any cheaper to turn one into a real spec — the kind that answers what this actually does, who it's for, what happens at the edges, and what we're cutting.

The bottleneck used to be R&D throughput. Now it sits with whoever has to take the demo and do the unglamorous work of turning it into something an engineering team can build.

I recently had a choice: read an AI summary in 2 minutes, or grind through complex documentation for 2 hours.

I chose the grind. After those hours, something clicked - not just surface understanding, but real comprehension with all the nuances that matter.

Our brains need a minimum threshold of effort before they commit to deep learning. AI summaries have their place (speed over depth), but can't replace the work required for genuine understanding.

Now ex-xAI engineer described the current project there are working on - the human simulator. A tool that is designed to analyze the screen display, make decisions and interact with the computer using the keyboard and mouse signals.
The end goal is obvious - retire an entire class of office jobs.
While this is a remarkable engineering challenge and accomplishment, none of these folks are thinking about the really difficult and remarkable challenge:

I've helped my superior to evaluate possible candidates CVs.
What struck me, is that so many talented people with rich experience have written their resume so poorly.
This is not a rocket science. Read any of the countless posts on the topic, ask a friend or even an LLM for feedback.

I can strongly relate to this.
In my experience, when I was working across domains, I could do a task alone in 2 weeks that would take two engineers 4 weeks to complete.
The coordination, hand-offs and cross domain language barrier costs are real.

We have too much of the Internet dependent on too few companies.
It's not that these companies are necessary bad, but more technological diversity would make the Internet much more healthy and resilient.

I've tried to install Windows 11 on a small PC. This is a horrible experience. I've installed Windows countless times a decade ago, installed various Linux distributions.
Why on earth do I need drivers to install an OS on a NVMe drive? 🤦
Why getting these drivers such a pain? 🤦
Why loading these drivers such a pain? 🤦‍♂️
Why package drivers archive as an executable and not a simple ZIP file? 🤦‍♂️

This shows a total lack of empathy towards the user.

The thing that most annoys me with #Claude, it how brittle and unreliable this service is.
