So I, uh, am sorry for my absence. I realized I'd dropped off the face of the world when a bunch of lovely people reached out for proof of life. I realized I should say something, lest people think I fell down our cliff like some heroine in a gothic novel.

I deleted social media(s), and kind of ... stopped. It is nice?! Isolating, but good. Weird. After decades being Very Online I find I'm really enjoying being Less Online. So.

I'll be back, eventually... But for now: yep, still alive.

The US Right has yanked the Overton window over and over by proposing appalling things and then said "j/k let's compromise on something slightly less heinous!!" and somehow get seen as being reasonable and open to bipartisanship. Why NOT get everyone pissed off that the Left is coming for their guns and then propose a sane compromise that makes that look moderate?

I can tell that Elon Musk, Duke of the Manchildren and Ghost of Terrible Product Decisions has done something hilarious again because a bunch of my year-old toots about his incompetence are getting fav'd.

What was it this time? Is he requiring implantable trackers in your brain to tweet (sorry, uh, "X") with? Has he implemented Free Speech Filters that delete users who criticize him? Or is it just the usual enshittificafion terribleness?

@kelidanovus@hachyderm.io my favourite wtf story is an API that used "behavior" and I, a Canadian, spelled it "behaviour." It was totally invisible to my eyes as wrong and spellcheck in my IDE was set to 🇨🇦 too

But Musk is trashing his own PR machine, you say? Why would he do that? Because it's his to destroy. Does that hurt him, in the end? Yes. But the ego threat it represents when independent is too much for him to cope with. And he is ultimately insulated from any material harms -- he's still rich, and now you have no Twitter. The billionaires have to live on earth too, you say? They would rather destroy it for everyone else rather than cede control, even to people better qualified or equipped.

Elon Musk doubling down and compounding his bad decisions is NORMAL. This is how rich assholes behave.

This is how they ALL behave.

We're going into a climate crisis. One that requires immediate action. We have unprecedentedly unchecked corporate power structures and an elite that has zero understanding.

And they will make WORSE decisions the more they are pressed.

The rich will destroy the world rather than admit they don't know what they're doing.

Worked with Acquia's Content Hub through its various iterations (defedi and then pub/sub) and it was always a huge assache because of the ridiculously flexible data model Drupal had. And at Pantheon we worked on various front-end layers to allow content swapping, but always powered by (and limited by) the CMS display layer, so WP and Drupal couldn't work together nicely. This is ...very, very exciting.
