This is an extremely good point, and I think it applies to society more broadly as well
I don't use Steam because I am unaware that proprietary software and DRM are Evil (tm) -- I use it because there's basically no other way to play most of the games my partner enjoys without devoting 150% of my free time to getting them to work without Steam and violating a dozen laws in the process... but I do buy from Itch-io when I can to make sure devs get paid as much as possible and a better platform gets some support
I don't buy things from Amazon because I am unaware that they are one of the driving forces of hypercapitalism and responsible for innumerable human rights abuses globally -- I use it because there's literally nowhere locally I can buy this obscure product... but I do shop locally whenever I can, and I don't pay for Amazon Prime
I don't vote for establishment centrists because I'm unaware how spineless, morally bankrupt, and corrupt they are -- I just don't want the literal fascists to win... but I do vote for the most progressive choice possible in the primary elections
As sick as we all are of choosing the lesser evil, it's still better than choosing the greater evil, and usually it's better than hurting ourselves by choosing nothing at all

Genuinely curious... did you have good experiences with EnergySage?
I took your recommendation and tried them, but my experience has been awful so far... I got 3 "quotes" but all the companies disavow EnergySage's estimate and provide a separate one that's 2-3x the cost. One even tacked on a $2k fee for using EnergySage to begin with, I assume to make me pay their referral fee...
Maybe there are just uncommonly bad solar companies in my area?

@swiftyshq@voidwood.online I think sigterm gives the process a chance to shut itself down gracefully, like clicking the X at the top of a GUI window, while sigkill ends the process forcefully, but it's been a while since I read the documentation on that

Tarot decks are one of my favorite tools to think about my current circumstances in a way I wouldn't ordinarily think, and they work precisely because I shuffle them before each use
Likewise, I still love my story dice when I get stuck in a writing rut, or "encounter tables" to mix things up at D&D when the party doesn't know what to do next
I don't necessarily do what the cards or dice tell me to do, but they force a lot of "Oh I hadn't thought about it like that" moments that are good for my creativity and inspiration overall

Does anyone happen to know if there's a way to change the Emergency Alert Notification on Android to be a different sound, or to ensure it is completely silent? Or an alternate way of receiving them that bypasses the Android native functionality?
The sound causes my partner to panic, but I don't want us to miss the alerts completely... #askfedi

Although recently they don't even knock/ring when delivering a package. They just toss it onto the porch from a few feet away and hope for the best 😞
