@mike@flipboard.social I might be wrong but it looks like they’re posting on their site and then it also sends a post on Threads and BlueSky, rather than be a single post that federates? Shame they picked Threads for the Fediverse portion considering a large amount of instances block that instance. Still, it’s an interesting concept and great to see large publications putting in the effort into something like that.

Dead Pony is basically all I'm listening to music-wise at the moment. Seeing them in a little under two weeks and really looking forward to it!

Microsoft make it so damn hard to allow my son and me to play Minecraft together.

Cannot for the life of me work out how to get his account to be allowed to play multiplayer. I don’t even want to go online. Just a local server. 😡

Edit: I sorted it eventually. It was a mixture of Microsoft Family and Xbox Privacy settings. 🙃

I’m looking for YouTube channel recommendations which have informational Minecraft videos. Not the hyperactive brain-rot shite with annoying voices, but creators that will actually teach the mechanics of the game and interesting builds.

My 6 year old son is very into Minecraft (Bedrock on Xbox) at the moment, but my knowledge of the game is minimal and it’ll be great to sit down with him and watch some interesting videos that we could try to replicate.

Added bonus if it includes trains, railway and level crossings. 😄👍

If anyone knows of any, please send them my way. Thanks!

@alex@gamerstavern.online Just don’t go into the Shorts section. It’s weirder there! 🤪 Joking aside, the restriction has helped me stop the habit of blindly watching Shorts. I may still go on YouTube, but more purposefully to watch a video on subscribed channel and afterwards it gets automatically restricted again.

@operationpuppet@gamerstavern.online Yeah exactly. This is why I’ve put a blocker in the way to make me think twice before going ahead. I’d have to use a passcode and select an amount of time to access YouTube if I wanted to use it, and I think that will be enough for me to stop doing it on impulse and only use it for something specific as and when.

I decided I had to add a Screen Time limit (of 0 minutes) for YouTube being accessed on my iPhone/iPad.

I got into the habit of consistently watching Shorts over the last week or so, and I was wasting considerable amount of time on it without really noticing. It was the main reason I got rid of my TikTok account about a year ago so it felt like some kind of addiction relapse. So easy to fall into that rabbit hole so had to cut that shit off.
