Climate scientist turned physicist, but now I'm out of that treadmill called academia - and into the treadmill of IT.

I used to accumulate hobbies, but time is pretty short now.

I like outdoors stuff, some swimming and cycling, carving in the woods, hiking

Bike advocate, not activist, don't use "bike doesn't work, so I'll use the car" - that's an invitation for me to fix this BSO (bike shaped object)

@thomasjwebb@mastodon.social @Ashedryden@xoxo.zone Totally agree! And a data centre does not create any high paying local jobs. Administration is remote, and non-local companies are hired to lift a new server into the rack - and how often did this need to be done? Eejits.

Climate scientist turned physicist, but now I'm out of that treadmill called academia - and into the treadmill of IT. I used to accumulate hobbies, but time is pretty short now. I like outdoors stuff, some swimming and cycling, carving in the woods, hiking Bike advocate, not activist, don't use "bike doesn't work, so I'll use the car" - that's an invitation for me to fix this BSO (bike shaped object)

@veronica @Alice So better visit Western Norway, the feminine form is basically not used - trips me (bloody foreigner) up when visiting e.g. Tromsø, and the streets are female all of a sudden.... Workaround (as per the Portuguese cheat): order two units of beer at once. Might be expensive though...

@celesteh @peachfiend Current Evangelical "Christians" pick the commandments so they can justify their hate. For a Christian the words and works of Jesus Christ should be the main focus. This is what being a Christian is defined as (well.... Should be), it's in the name. Showing compassion, love, helping those in need, supporting those that are excluded from society (and I know that these ideas are not exclusive to Christianity, or religion in general, Kant's golden imperative etc.).

@iddinev @sarahdalgulls Deuter changed the product line in small bike backpacks a lot... I really liked mine, but the new ones don't have the same comfortable back. I have now switched to Osprey, it's slightly better than the new Deuter but not as good as the old one. My partner bought a used Deuter to replace the completely worn out one (I guess after about 20 years of daily use).
