I suppose you can determine if a hosting platform presents byte-identical download of an upload file by uploading your file and then downloading it again.
Would be wild if the hosting platform did the steg on files others uploaded and didn't let anyone but special download customers know.

@kennethspringer@infosec.exchange my underlying assumption was that the person using the steg was *not* the owner of the file hosting platform but it's an interesting and different story if they are. You can enforce a login for known customers only and route different folks to different files with the same external appearance. That's a very different story, overall. Probably more likely? Use cases for steganography are mostly "evading detection from some consequence", for good or bad

I see a couple strategies - one, you hide your real payload inside a lesser crime like pirating music; two, you hide your real payload inside something completely innocent. It might depend on your access and audience?

Have you already got a lost of sites containing files which are identical on download? I mean you could do this with *literally* any file type, really, not just photos. Although "hide a thing in a photo" is the shiniest example.

@kennethspringer@infosec.exchange the *big* challenge is that public access photos are often compressed or not displayed and downloaded as their original image. So you need to target 1) publicly available 2) places for an analysis where you have photos being uploaded and then available for download as the same file, unaltered. And if you're a paranoid spy type maybe you want places where lots of people go for images, do your visiting looks normal.

Women are a solid subset, but a mere "acknowledge women" doesn't help with root cause, which seems to be some fundamental lack of self-confidence. I never see truly confident people fail to acknowledge the folks around them.

I think guys getting emotionally confident and comfortable leads to more accurate history and representation.

@chisop@todon.eu @SecondUniverse@autistics.life realistically, age of consent varies slightly from person to person; so to avoid getting bogged down measuring everyone, society has chosen a fairly safe age of around 18-21 for most definitions of "informed consent". By that age it's presumed you understand enough to take responsibility for steering your own life. Realistically, your ability to handle things will still depend on your biology and upbringing.

People are bringing their assumptions of malice with them from other places instead of presumption of good intent. It's disappointing but inevitable.
