Where colour photos easily catch your eye, black and white has a unique beauty in its monochromic tones. Light and shadow become vital; shadows become deep and mysterious and pop against the highlights. The scene is simplified to form and texture, and what beautiful textures lie in the grain of black and white analogue frames!

Edendork Dance Hall, County Tyrone. Built in 1963, it was once a bustling venue on the Irish showband circuit during the 1960s and 1980s.

When the showband era came to an end in the mid-1980s, dance halls like this began to close down.

Sadly the hall was demolished in 2024

This week is Ireland #NationalHeritageWeek, and I will be sharing photos and stories from my adventures exploring the country’s disappearing heritage.

1 - As an established account with a sizeable number of followers, who posts maybe 1-8 photos a day, will this create a huge cache? I am unclear on this

2 - Will new accounts be able to discover me via hashtags etc? Do I need relays?

A fantastically decayed abandoned hotel in Germany. The restaurant has wonderful vivid green moss growing on the carpet and ferns on the walls and furniture. The flowers on the table are fake, before anyone asks why the flowers are still alive in #abandonedplaces 🤣
