If I boost something, it’s not always because I agree with it. Sometimes it’s because I find it thought-provoking even though I don’t agree with some or even all of it, and sometimes it’s because I think others will find it useful or interesting.

@amerpie@social.lol @dhry@mastodon.social #mac #apple

Can either of you or anyone else suggest an alternative to AltTab for #macOS?

I updated it via homebrew the other day and my fav feature (alt-` switching between open windows of the current app *across all Spaces*) was moved behind a paywall. I wouldn’t have updated if I’d known.

@ellane@pkm.social Does that mean they do eventually pay you when you finally reach $100 in sales since the last payment, even if that takes multiple months, or that they don’t ever pay you for what you earn in a given month if it’s less than $100?

@ellane You’re right, different people struggle with different things. Our egos love to tempt us to be judgmental about or feel superior to people who struggle with things we don’t, and to be defensive or in denial about things we do personally struggle with. But as someone who’s not naturally minimalist, I like that insight about making space for things I love or actually need. (Despite the little nagging non-minimalist voice inevitably saying “But what if I ever *do* need it?”)

@dhry When you hit a hotkey (option-shift-2 by default), TextSniper pops up a special mouse cursor that lets you select and copy as plaintext any words, numbers, etc. you can see on your screen, whether they could otherwise be copied or not. It’s ideal for copying text out of an image, but I also use it to copy text without picking up underlying hyperlinks, formatting, etc. Abbyy Finereader looks like it does something different that’s related to PDFs

@ike@pkm.social I don’t mean this in hostile or a gotcha way, but I’m genuinely curious because iirc you’re a recreational pilot. I could be wrong about this, but doesn’t a Sunday afternoon flight in a light plane burn a lot more fuel and emit more pollution than a Sunday drive through the countryside in a passenger car?

All that’s left is for Apple to kick Twitter out of the App Store. Then his users will have to resort to 3rd party—oh yeah, they can’t.
