When I was extending #inxi window manager and desktop support I installed everything available, in some vms. i3 had by far the best docs of anything I tested. Best man page, best web docs, so I figured if their docs are this good their code must be as well. Sadly the same could not be said for #sway, the wayland i3 clone. Maybe that's gotten better by now. i3 docs also inspired me to upgrade inxi docs and public data.

I like free software operating systems because you find install then stay with the desktop and/or window manager you like. #xfce in my case, or #i3 / #sway. Note that most free software window managers / desktops can be installed on the BSDs too so it's wrong to call these #linux when you are referring to the user interface. A few have hooks to systemd which ties them to the linux kernel, but most don't.

Let me check my logs: yes, I can say I have missed gh for exactly zero seconds since leaving it. But what I especially don't miss are the gh users. Who apparently still can't read. @tristansnell@mstdn.social this is a direct outcome of usa not stopping the grotesque mal-distribution of wealth whose polar symptoms are billionaires and maga. The Post, like Twitter, and the LA Times, died the day a billionaire bought it without creating a hardwired trust mechanism to insulate against this type of direct conflict of interest.. The Guardian has such a trust and thus can be fairly independent. If Bezos and Musk goals were to create free press they would use blind trusts. They didnt.

@JosephMenn@infosec.exchange I think if you want to take a more macro view, this is what true social media addiction looks like. Musk's, that is. It has nothing to do with 'freedom of speech', Twitter was just his happy place, then he started hanging out with right wing types, and he made a dumb offer, realized it was dumb, tried to back out, last smart thing he did, failed, and then had to buy it at the absurd price, then started ruining it. Nobody sane would have done this, it was just one more dopamine rush.

@JosephMenn@infosec.exchange celebrate it!! Current twitter valuation: 11 billion USD. Down from 19 a few weeks ago. Dropping steadily. As Musk says, freedom of speech, not freedom of reach. I believe realistic estimates of profit generating pre musk twitter value was around 10 billion, but that was a company that had advertisers, had turned the corner, and were making money. We can track this because Fidelity bought a small share of the company, and they report their writedowns for that share routinely.
