@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange the most disturbing thing was the similarity of the machine to war loader robots in the game Borderlands 2, even down to a some of the munitions. Some heavy inspiration there I think.
What I found most unrealistic though was the soldiers standing staring whilst getting shot, given they were supposed to be elite I'd have expected them to react to the danger.

@JackTheCat@mastodon.scot I wish that were true, but they went from 1 MSP to 17 and are joint second largest party in Holyrood. Granted those 16 gains mirror the old Tories 16 losses. But let's not get too cocky. We have hard right nutters in our midst like every other country.

@bebop @anon_opin I'm sorry but I lived in Houston in the late nineties for 3 years, worked in the medical centre area and pick ups as lifestyle choice were a thing even then. Doctors driving them in with their Stetson and cowboy boots!
I'm sure you're correct when it comes to size increase, but pick up truck poseurs have been a thing for decades. And like the op implies they just look even more ridiculous in Britain on our tiny old roads.

@europeanspodcast@mastodon.social the language difficulties do make this a little different, and more challenging. But was surprised there was no reference to Ireland's Citizen Assemblies and the Sortition Foundation. This EU version seemed a bit small scale in comparison.
This sort of direct participation does seem particularly good at setting policy direction where politicians fear to tread eg legalisation of abortion in Ireland.

But the point is the same, you've made the choice of desktop interface before install.

@Edent@mastodon.social I use it every day and have no problems at all. Quite surprised by all the comments here. It's almost like everyone else is using a different product.
I do hear people complain how difficult it is to run a matrix server, so I get the protocol may have problems.
I don't really see what to replace it with though.

@chriswood@mastodon.design fantastic article Chris. Echo's of my own experience shifting from Mac to Linux in 2018 (after 18 years of dual booting but not committing!)
In particular it was that calm feel of the Gnome desktop compared to macos that finally made me switch.
