I want my name included for a good reason: I want the US government's resources focused on trying to silence me in Canada, instead of the USan activists doing the same work. I am safe here. I trust my country's laws and courts, and I fear nothing from the US. So leave my name in it, and give them someone to think about.

@xorlou@lgbtqia.space Why did the Nazis choose the Jews? Because fascism needs an enemy. And they've learned that USan people are gonna stand up for immigrants. So we're being promoted to Main Threat. They feel fairly confident that the US population will not make the same level of effort for a quiet genocide. No ICE teams harassing people in the streets, just a bunch of trans folk quietly harming themselves in despair. And *poof* - they've got a galvanising issue to put in front of their bigoted base, and hope to juice turnout by promising to make our lives hell. It's just cynical politics, allied to their innate conservatism that says "you can't be different from me, it's immoral!"

Other bullies see the signaling and understand that they also need to show their allegiance and support for #fascism and #hate by looking for new opportunities & victims to bully. @xorlou@lgbtqia.space @oldladyplays@wargamers.social Enforcing heteronormativity means, through direct and indirect means, that there's more babies to groom (theyre very worried about birth decline, in any facet, due to the coming climate impacts they acknowledge behind closed doors, but reject openly), more men to groom into service, more control over the population, and a creation of a scapegoat to propagandize as "the problem" in order to not only distract, but maintain the hegemony of heteronormativity. The state, as its built and functions, NEEDS heteronormativity to function as it is. It has interwoven nearly all of its systems with it to such an extent that in the event of instability, it becomes one of the first things tightened—nearly always. This is beyond the obvious effect of killing transgender people through lack of care leading to suicide. This is also a feature and intent, but its not the only one, and neither is scapegoating. They dont want their men to be anything but "men" so they can use them in their wars. They dont want their children to be independent because they are instrumental tools for political gain, and future laborers (and trans people tend to be less productive; this is likely due to 'overlapping' neurodivergence). They dont want people to be trans because it risks upending the board.

@oldladyplays@wargamers.social i used to work for a university that did spacecraft development using NASA grants. I left in October because the university was bowing to state fascism. Now they are crushing us via fiat again. I’m out of the system, but my heart is still back there, and their hatred is killing me. I want to be stronger, but they hurt me over and over again. I know that my tears are what they want. But crying is the only way i can deal with this pain. I wish i had someone to go to for solace from this, but I’m the elder in my tiny community. 😞😭

@oldladyplays@wargamers.social this shit just makes me want to crawl into a hole and die. That's what they want. It'd be a helluva lot easier than getting up every day. Sounds like a good deal to me. They get to check another abomination of the list and I get to stop feeling the weight. High fives all around. Nobody with any authority or power cares. I just want to be allowed to exist, to live. I don't hurt anybody. I pay taxes. I obey the law. I will never be good enough. It's like my abusive stepdad is running the entire government only there's nowhere for me to go, no way to escape. Why do they hate so much? I'll get up tomorrow. I'll keep getting up. I have to. But it's not easy. Edit: I'm a mentally ill, neurodivergent transgender woman living in a red state taking care of my disabled and neurodivergent cisgender wife. We can't move. We have no family nearby and no local friends. It's just us for each other.

@oldladyplays@wargamers.social While I agree with the reason, Canada is experiencing enough foreign interference in its affairs. Encouraging more may well backfire. Asking Canadians to lobby their own government would take away that talking point from conservative types.

(Avoid spaces with bigots; we don't want them getting their grubby paws on it) Again, it may feel useless, but it's not. If nothing else, we can all say we signed our names *against* fascism.

Why is the "sex binary" such an important issue for the US administration? It seems to be an ideological/religious enforcement rather than for any practical reason.
