In Norse mythology, neither of the sea gods were of the Æsir (the main pantheon). Njord was one of the Vaneir, and embodied the sea's helpful aspects (sailing, fishing, etc.). Ægir was one of the Jotnar, and embodied the sea's dangerous aspects (storms, tsunamis, etc.). #MythologyMonday #Folklore #Mythology #Norse #Vikings #Scandinavia

In Norse mythology, the mountain giantess Skadi married the sea god Njord, as he had lovely legs. I know this is very bad and scary when others do it, but I sometimes think that people convicted of violent crimes in #Sweden, who flee the country, should live in constant fear of the #vikings with horned helmets and iron hatchets we as a nation would send out as bounty hunters after them. The viking should get a bounty corresponding to the #weregild the criminal owed, and be allowed to share it with the victims, or not. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weregild
