Update: Indonesia has kicked out, and banned, the Dutch founders of the running club. Pretty excessive. Tho I also feel like the digital nomads who live in Bali don’t understand that the culture of daily permissiveness there doesn’t extend to actual legal protections (Like the American queer people who were like it’s fine to be gay here actually!) #Indonesia #TootSea

This is how we do laundry in Singapore. After washing, stick your clothes on bamboo poles and stick them outside your kitchen. With the immense tropical heat, they’ll be dry very quickly #Singapore #TootSea

One of the reasons why the Japanese were especially brutal and murderous towards the Chinese population in Singapore and Malaya during WW2: it was vengeance for the Straits Chinese financial support for China, in Japan’s war in China a few years earlier. Organizations like these were involved in major Chinese geopolitical activity, like supporting Sun Yat Sen on his drive to get rid of the monarchy, activating for the late 30s war, and later for defence and sustenance through invasion and then later Japanese occupation. Later, many people involved in these movements also went on to form the core base of anti-British, anti-colonial pro-independence movements after WW2. #Singapore #TootSea
