Brilliant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymejSLrS9dw The captioning is only fair, and at certain moments bad. His accent may be difficult for some native English speakers. Persist. This is genuinely insightful stuff. #philosophy #taoism #laozi #wuwei #selfimprovement #selfhelp

I had a moment of quiet contemplation on a walk today, taking some time for *me*, and stopped to appreciate some nature, in particular some moss. There's pictures, and even a little video! Moss is cool! Work sucks! I'm trying to be better to myself! https://fyr.io/post/moss-and-peace #blaugust #blaugust2026 #nature #phonephotography #moss #Mosstodon #blogging #worklifebalance #burnout #selfimprovement (Higher res photo in the blog post)

Last year MIT Media Lab's study on cognitive debt resulting from AI tools shows that people who used one of AI tools, in this scenario ChatGPT, for writing and administrative tasks, had their own writing skills decreased, with lower task performance scores. However, since AI tools often hallucinate and provide output, it creates higher motivation to train skills allowing journalists to analyze the output, cross-reference and research sources. This may result in growing need to upskill and work on self-improving other important skills in areas like research, fact-checking and discerning between reality and fiction. https://www.niemanlab.org/2026/07/a-new-study-looks-at-the-skills-journalists-are-losing-and-gaining-because-of-ai-tools/ #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #journalism #media #research #writing #factchecking #SelfImprovement #MITMediaLab

I get impression that today’s internet is full of people, which try to sell us that being excellent means that you have to have some super elaborate procedures in your life. Keep it simple and do things which you really care for. My best scientific discoveries were made where I had almost no routines at all. I just wanted to understand how the things work. :-) #Excellence #SelfImprovement #PeakPerformance
