I am really enjoying the newest album by #PaulMcCartney. It has in many places quality of the #Beatles album, but it does not sound dated. It is nostalgic, but also uplifting and in some places experimental.
Lyrics evolve around youth years of Paul McCartney in Liverpool. The strongest songs for me are:

Europe was pushing stellarator research, when US and Asia gave up focusing mostly on tokamaks. #Wendelstein7X - stellarator working in Greifswald - delivered such spectacular results that it started renaissance of stellarator research in the world. There are three major new projects following W7X - one in US, and two in Germany. This is a fourth one. I am so happy about that.

Spanish government decided to provide 500 million euros for a new magnetic fusion experimental reactor.
WISER 5 - the new stellarator im Madrid - will improve on the results from #Wendelstein7X and will provide even better confinement of energy. This is an important step of Spain towards fusion reactor. #Science #fusion

Ryan Gosling delivers a moving performance. The idea of all humankind uniting to save Earth feels idealistic, especially in light of our struggles with climate change, but it works within the film’s hopeful tone. Overall, it’s a smart, engaging movie, even if the alien portrayal is typically for US sci-fi: Rocky is biologically unique alien civilization yet he functions along human paradigms and uses English grammar for communication.

I watched “Project Hail Mary” yesterday in a cinema. It was fun, although the whole “science” part was reduced to bare minimum to keep the movie going. I wished the movie was made with a pace of “2001: Space Odyssey” though. There was no time to awe on so many species discovered in the universe, to reflect on the meaning of that.
For many the movie was already too long as they were checking their phones, some left the cinema earlier. #cinema

I am a bit envious, as we have no chance to see Aida, which is my favorite opera ever. This is very nice in Darmstadt that the theater has productions for children. Ps Indeed, summer here is wonderful. Winter not so much. ;-)

I get impression that today’s internet is full of people, which try to sell us that being excellent means that you have to have some super elaborate procedures in your life. Keep it simple and do things which you really care for. My best scientific discoveries were made where I had almost no routines at all.
