The latest edition of the #PBS News show Horizons has an excellent piece on a science study published in Nature last month that found that over half of migratory birds globally are now in decline. Most of the show is a thoughtful interview with the lead author of that research, Peter Marra.
The interview is quite sobering, although I appreciate Peter's hopeful response that birds have rebounded from stupid things we've done before (over-hunting of egrets and herons for feathers for hats, and widespread use of DDT insecticides on farms).
Watch to the end for information on another recent science study showing that bird watching is good for our brains. 😀

Wie sicherlich einige von euch schon mitbekommen haben, ist unsere #Mastodon Instanz und https://social.anoxinon.de down.
Hintergrund ist das in der Nacht die 2 RootFS NVMEs kurz hintereinander ausgestiegen sind und daher auch das RAID1 nicht überlebt hat.
Also sind wir den Weg über das Restore des Backups gegangen, wovon wir mit ProxmoxBackupServer (PBS) und Borg via BorgMatic sogar zwei hatten.
Es gab einen Blinden Fleck in unseren Backups, den wir bis dato nicht auf dem Schirm hatten, die Postgres Datenbank, welche von keinem der beiden Backup erfasst wurde.
Daher können wir https://social.anoxinon.de aktuell nicht vollständig wiederherstellen, da wir alles anderen haben, aber nicht die Datenbank.
Aktuell gehen wir noch mal alle Backups durch und klären zusätzlich eine Daten Recovery Option.
Bitte shared, teilt, retröötet usw. diesen Post hier, sodass er fleißig Verbreitung findet, damit das Fediverse Informiert wird.

The news of #Fox purchasing #Roku is quite depressing.
Apparently its #FoxCorp, the Fox News arm. At first I thought perhaps it was being brought under the #Disney owned arm of Fox but that's not the case.
This regime has all the big social media sites under their thumb. Their allies have purchased #CBS and now Roku. They have owned #Tubi for years.
They are stripping funding and punishing networks with dissenting viewpoints like #NPR and #PBS and #ABC
Time to disconnect my Roku TV from the network. Their not gonna get jack shit from me.
I'm not going to feed this machine.
I have had a media PC hooked up to the TV for the last couple of years and seldom used the TVs apps anyway. The PC is a much better experience.
I will certainly miss the TV guide though for OTA TV.

Well, all those YouTube accounts that purport to offer a live stream of the JFKcenter are actually just re-running their Livestream from yesterday.

They're not purporting to offer a Livestream, but they do offer a photo of the facade of the #KennedyCenter that was taken sometime today.
